So, hands up, who's off to a halloween party at some point in the next few weeks? biggrin

What are your costume ideas?

Extra points for anything you can construct at home...

I'm not going to a party, but if I was I'd go as Sarah Palin. A creationist who could be in charge of America before too long. If that doesn't scare the st out of people, I don't know what will.

I couldn't agree more with the logic. smile

I think I need something a bit more overtly halloweeny though.

My girlfriend's band are playing at a goth club in London and it's quite a high profile place, so I feel compelled to come up with something special! In the past I've gone for simplicity - the most sucessful one was basically just a white sheet (as a ghost). It attracted a huge amount of female attention for some reason ...which, on reflection, was a bit dissapointing, because it only happened when my face was covered by said 'sheet. Anyway, I feel I should raise my game a bit now I'm in the big city!

I think I'm about half the age of the last remaining Cliff Richard fan.

Not entirely convinced he's scary enough for halloween either.

Not unless I can borrow one at short notice. wink

I'm thinking for a combination of not looking too bad, being easy (cheap) to construct and giving me a reasonable chance of surviving the journey across London I might have to go with the Grim Reaper. Just not sure if they'll let me take a [cardboard] sickle into the club!

I'm having a Halloween party next Friday and although me and my housemate have sorted our costumes other people have been quite stressed about what to wear which really is a bit OTT.

We then said that people can come in just fancy dress and doesn't have to be Halloween related so we now have the following confirmed:-

Witches
Devils
Pirates
Pirate's wench
A monk (my OH is actually shaving his head monk stylee!)
Catwoman
The Stig
A pimp
Chopper Reid
And many more that I'm not aware of yet

There were people debating the following costumes:-

A Robot - basically a person wrapped head to toe in tinfoil
The Twin Towers - this involved two people wearing boxes with windows drawn on and toy planes stuck in them, chucking Lego men out every now and then! (This was banned as it may cause offence)
A ghost - just a white sheet with eye holes
Jesus - the same white sheet but used more artistically
Roman leader - yes you've guessed it, the white sheet again!

If we get any particularly weird and wonderful costumes I'll be sure to post some piccies!

I don't see the logic behind my girlfriends idea, she is going out with the girls for a 'girly' night out clubbing, whilst I'm slaving away at work.

Oh I doubt you'll beat hers, even though it has no relevance to Halloween...

my 6ft tall missus is going out dressed in an Ann Summers Air Hostess costume.

This is from the previous thread : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=593...

Ok this is my crap costume idea for my daughters halloween party !

Get a cauliflower and put the white bit in a jar, drizzle some fake blood on it and seal jar (I am using a 100 blank CD/DVD holder thingy turned upside down)

get a hospital gown and some bandages put gown on and put bandages over head before applying a liberal amount of fake blood all over head, add stick on cuts around forehead etc...

People ask what you are say you had your brain put in a jar (probably an accurate representation of most PH'ers hehe)

I was going to mock up some sort of flip top head bit too so I could open it up for the kids, using the bladder of an old football as my "scalp" but I was told off as it may be too scary biggrin

You shouldn't ban it - it's the best idea by miles. I was out in Glasgow for Halloween 2001 and two guys in the club had dressed as the Twin Towers. One was even slightly taller than the other for accuracy and they had a plastic jet stuck to the side of one of them.

I thought it was genius.

I'm trying to talk one of my friends into dressing up in tandem with me this year. I've got a white linen suit and was going to get that on with pith helmet and monocle and get him to 'black up' and wear rags. Together we would be known as Braithewaite and Ndugu and would serve as a comical yet sobering reminder of the harshness of Imperial Britain but it has been suggested to me that this is far beyond the realms of common decency.

I did find the idea extremely funny but don't know my housemates and her OH's friends well enough to be sure that they haven't had a sense of humour bypass!!!
