...so today he has finally admitted it. What a complete jerk. Surely Brown and his corrupt party will be kicked out sooner rather than later. What a mess this guy has made of the complete UK economy and now he's blaming other countries rolleyes

I don't think an individual, irrespective of how negligent or complacent, can be blamed for such a widespread failure.

Well, there is the rest of the Labour party too, but Brown is the principal defendant.

It's a global problem.
You'd better be thankful that the other lot weren't in otherwise they would have let it crash into the endstops like they always do!

Well actually his reluctance to regulate the City as Chancellor to attract investment pushed the Americans to compete by offering sub prime loans and the consequent CDO/CDS to string vest wearers on porches up and down America.

So in a way it could be said that hes very responsible.

Actually, yes. The previous Tory government bequeathed Brown a golden economic situation and Britain was amongst the best countries measured by competitiveness. Since then Britain has slid down the table due to taxes and red tape. All Introduced by NL and GB.

Not all the blame, just most of it.

I am not sure where this vague positiveness comes from that you comment on but it was all still looking gloomy according to the stats - the banking sector had been stabilised but that is about that.

It is a global problem as mentioned before - but he was very silly in the past to say no more boom and bust. Any govt that tries to take the glory for an economic purple patch is going to get hit in the face when it turns. As it always does.

And it is loser, as mentioned for the past 56 years

I'm telling you that he has presided over the biggest bubble in modern history. Bookmark this topic and revisit in two years.

Well if it is a global thing, why did he take all the credit (no pun intended) for the boom years?

The whole global downturn is absolute heaven for Brown. Who would've thought that 3 months ago his own party were about to kick him out and then wow...global recession. It wasn't Gordon after all! He must think all his birthdays have come at once

I'M no labourite, but I'd suggest blaming the current government for this recession is bordering on childish.

Recessions are inevitable. I blame him for making it much worse than it might have been.

Quite. And making it last much longer having damaged the UKs competitiveness.
