If i call someone and leave a message i expect a call back, if i send someone an email i expect a reply.

Yet this simple common courtesy seems to be lost on alot of people.

Just a reply to say "no feck off mr Mc lovin, please stop going through my bins and looking through my window, i know its you"

Anything, just a simple reply, not really taxing.

I have put read recipts on my emails now, so i know people have read them.

so if you receive an email from me and dont reply, i'll be the person outside pissing on your flowers.

that is all.

Can I just say if someone puts a read reciept on an email they send me - I deliberatly don't reply for several hours/sometimes days.

I am perfectly capable of organising my own workload and will not be bullied into re-arranging it because some halfwit doesn't trust me to read an email.

I block all read receipts as I believe it is the height of bad manners. Send one to me and I'll add you to a variety of mailing lists for alternate lifestyles.

I know how you feel.

I got a call 2 weeks ago from an EA about a plot of land that I might be interested in - being sold by a developer going bust. Went to look at it and called EA said really interested. EA knows I have cash in bank but have I heard anything back? I called yesterday, left a message asking to be called back to discuss. Still nothing. These people should be jumping for my business!!!!!

Thats not the reason why i do it, its for the reason above, i can wait days or weeks, but to not reply at all really fks me off, to the point if i see someone delte my email without even reading it, i make it my mission to hound them untill they do.

I hate a lot of people that email me, however i take the time to reply to them, even in a polite manner which is why i cant fathom why people feel they can just ignore you.

You wouldn't ignore someone if they where speaking with you face to face, so why do it when conversing by other means?

But you are an attention seeking turd and after the first contact with you all your contacts will be aware of the fact.

I have to question the real value of any email you send to someone whom you can actually SEE deleting it.

Is conversation not allowed in your workplace? lol

hehe

I Know what you mean though, and I'm noticing it more & more.

Alot of my work I submit to clients via email (busy account managers I grant you) But certain ones dont even say 'Cheers' via a reply email.

I'm left sitting in my office... thinking 'Did they get it? Did they like it?... Have they finally got their head stuck up their own arse?'

I agree, common courtesy.
Not necessarily. I get cold calls daily from companies wanting to do a 'quick customer survey' or want to tell me about their great new product that will save my company ££££'s. My receptionist knows not to put calls asking to speak to 'IT director' or 'head of IT' so she'll take a message. If i get a message from reception along the lines of 'Fred from computer solutions would like you to call him back on....' chances are i'm not going to bother - simply because i dont have time to humour these people. Anyone who i 'need' to do business with has my mobile number.

Nothing to do with common courtesy.

Also, to the O/P - if people who you know arent taking your calls and arent phoning you back TAKE THE HINT.

In all seriousness, why do you think your particular email is more important than anything else that they have to deal with?

Grow a thicker skin is my advice.
