London Waterloo to London Kings Cross - best tube route?
Discussion
Hi all,
Going from South Dorset to York on the train tomorrow, which requires getting off the train at Waterloo and then using the tube to make my way to Kings Cross for the connecting train. I've never been on the tube on my own before, and pretty-much relied on the knowledge of my OH the last time we went on it together.
According to my 'ideal' schedule I have an hour and eleven minutes to make this journey, although there is another connecting train an hour later that I could catch.
At the risk of sounding a bit thick, what's the best tube route to take for this?
Cheers all,
EYW

Northern Line to Leicester Sq. follow the signs inside the station and then Piccalilly Line to KingsX.
My hint to a fellow Bumpkin is that to get from KingsX tube to the train station, you have to put out onto the street level (taking care not to look like a Grockle by pointless at aeroplanes etc.) and back in the main door of the station.

Northern Line from Waterloo to Euston and then either change over to the other Northern line branch or a short walk and you're there! If you're arriving outside of rush hour then the Northern line isn't too bad.
Yep - Northern Line and then walk - it's five minutes max. Just ask someone to point you in the right direction along Euston Road once you come out at Euston.20 minutes door-to-door.

If the weather is nice, I'd be tempted to do Euston and walk. Otherwise you have one change, and it won't really matter which route you pick - tube journeys depend more on the number of times you have to wait for a train. The Waterloo and City line is quite a rollercoaster, if you've not tried it! Then, Northern line.
Google "London tube map" and look at the GIF version on TfL's site.

Okay, thanks for the info all!
This'll be my first time on the tube on my own, and the last time (with 'er indoors) I pretty-much let her do all the navigating. I'll have just one small suitcase (on wheels) and a camera bag with me, so I don't mind having a little bit of a walk.
Cheers once again!

When you get to Waterloo tube station, take a look at the boards that tell you how the various tube lines are running. This might dictate a last minute alteration to your plans.
- nods, Bakerloo to Picadilly Circus and then Picadilly line to Kings X is another possibility.
