For those interested in how you work, Gunther Von Hagens exhibition opens at the O2 today (until Aug 2009). I will definitely be going - it's absolutely fascinating and really makes you appreciate just how damn complicated you are.

Also, if you are trying to lead a healthier lifestyle and are having trouble with motivation, it will help. Canderous lungs and cirrhosis-riddled livers tend to focus the mind somewhat.

Anyone else planning on going?

Have to admit the pregnant woman was the only thing that I felt a little uneasy about. The rest was ace.

Will do. Probably worth adding that I went to see the first exhibition in London in 2003-ish. Really, really interesting, and would recommend it. You tend to focus on the bits inside and forget that they are real bodies, until you see a tattoo, or nose hair, or suchlike and you're reminded.

i completely agree with that, the bodies didnt seem quite real, it was a tattoo that caught my eye, and make me re-think. its an incredible exhibition. i went a few years ago, tempted to go again.. the most amazing part for me was the man on a horse, both with veins splayed all over the place, stared at that for ages....

What is the point of it?
Gratuitous shock factor/art/education?

Yes, I will be going, always wanted to see this and my GF is keen to go too.

Don't see anything wrong or particularly controversial about it myself.

Saw it in Prague last year, utterly fascinating, made all the more so by the fact that Mrs Dead is a biomedical scientist and gave me even more insight into the exhibits.

+1

When you go, you will see why it is not designed to shock. I highly recommend it, saw it in Manchester in summer.
