Avalanche transceiver
Discussion
A group of us all bought transeivers whilst in Canada recently. My friend did a lot of research and decided on the Mammut Pulse:

It's very easy to use, can identify and mark 3 targets and tells you if the target is breathing. Awesome bit of kit.

You will need a probe and a shovel too. And some instruction on how to use them. Most resorts do a simple introductory avalanche course.
Cheers. Have that one covered already as I did a compulsory 2hr introductory course in Canada before I went heli-skiing a couple of years ago.Not Ideal said:

No, only when I go off piste. It's a lot of weight to lug around (heli pack, shovel, probe, extra clothes, water, food and snow kit and sometimes snow shoes because I snowboard).
I either make a special point of doing an off piste day: check conditions, prepare route and spend all day off piste.
Or, I stay on piste and without equipment don't make an exception because I spot a nice snow field just over the tape.
