id seen the thread about baby Girls names the other week, and the post on a felllow Ph'er having a little boy, Congrats by the way, Well it reminded me to post up about boy's names. My partner is due on the 21st December and we are really stuck on boy's names, ive google and looked at loads of sites etc and still no further forward, we currently have one son who is now 3 and we could only think of one name at the time for him, so we named him Harvey. but now trying to name a second boy is seeming to become very hard. dont like common names and like quite unusual names.

Cant really help as we had the same problem with only having one boys name so when the first baby was a girl it made it easier.

For the record our boy is called Jenson. Still very unusual.

Could you honestly only think of one boys name when you had your other son.
There are fking millions. Even without thinking I have rmemebered eleven thousand boys names.
Bizarre

Edit:
Two of you now? Jesus.
Maybe you should be friends and at least double your imagination.

I agree. Except it gets shortened to Ed. Which sound like the sort of sound uttered by someone named 'Mungo' when he gets hit with a telgraph pole.

James - My name, although you don't have to name him after me thumbup

Just dont call him anything you would call a dog.

Friend of mine called his two sons Rodger and Hugh. Suits them both perfectly.

Unless you have sat there with you missus reading umpteen books of babies names, over and over and over, you cannot understand. I do, which is one of the reasons we are sticking at two.

I completely understand the phrase "we could only think of one boys name".
I also understand what you have just said there.
If you had just said what you meant in the first place there would have been no need for this little song and dance.

What's with being weird and unusual and different when it comes to naming babies these days? All sorts of unusual, strange and badly-spelled malarkey. Lots of black people (this is not racist - just an observation) that seem to name their kids by throwing a bunch of Early Learning Centre magnetic letters at the fridge and seeing what sticks rolleyes
When I were a lad, names were David, Richard, Simon, Jonathan, Stephen, Andrew, Paul, Craig, Louise, Rachel, Sarah, Charlotte etc etc and the only unusual ones were generalyl due to one or more foreign parents, now we seem to be inundated with Brooklyns, Britneys, Oakleys, Kayleigh (a 1980s Narillion invention) etc etc.

I don't object as such, I just don't quite get the need to be so different.

Go for one with a decent long and short version. Can work well as the boy grows up.

Chris - Christopher
Seb - Sebastian
Max - Maximilian

That type of thing
