Our electricity suplier recently went bust and we have been thrown to B Gas (without our consent) who are apparently going to charge us 30p/unit (2 1/2 times the going rate). BG are now phoning, up to 20 times a day trying to get us to sign with them. Their rates are higher than other companies but they threaten us with this outrageous charge for the month or 2 if we dont sign up.robbing bstds.
Anyone else in the same situation and can they legally charge us this theiving rate? We have no direct debit so they will have to bill us.
Have now gone with Npower but still BG phone and phone. Mrs Toy is getting well pissed off with it.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the phone again mad

If your previous supplier went bust charging the rates they did, maybe the BG costs aren't quite as 'robbing' as they may seem?

E4B rates were probably to good agreed, shame but there you go ! But why does this give B G the right to charge well over twice the todays rate for electricity and use this as an F'in big stick to beat customers into their contract. Bloody disgrace !

No, they are being robbing gits. In contract and out of contract Gas & Electric prices are a farce (especially for businesses) & they will (sadly) charge OOC rates unless you sign up for a year at least. If you don't sign & go elsewhere the amount you lose paying OOC rates while the switch takes place often negates the benefit of the lower price elsewhere - happens a lot to business customers unless they stay on the ball about when their contracts end.

If it were me, on principle, I would just sign up elsewhere ASAP & explain the position to the new provider & get them to action the contract as soon as possible (and then turn the heating and the lights off and hide in the corner under a blanket till December!)

The words 'off' and 'fk' would not appear to be excessive in this context. Try them.

was with eon, now get

EquiGas costs 3.77p per kWh including VAT.
Equipower 13.91p per KWh (inc VAT)

not totally sure on the elec as eon left the economy 7 meter and it still splits the bill over 2 rates. but it is being changed for single rate soon

get a phone with voicemail option, if I wanted to avoid someone, would simply let the voicemail filter the calls and pick up those that I want

think BT do a free voicemail call service as well, costs the person phoning 5 p or something

Both more expensive than British Gas according to their website - I put in my gas and electric usage in kWh from my last bills, as they suggest, and both costs come out significantly more expensive - the electricity is nearly twice as much as BG!!

been through this farce with BG but believe me they are 10 times better than NPower who i was with previously. NPower were still trying to bill me 9mths after leaving them and i had to go the ombudsman to have them called off and cancel the bills they supposed i owed. not one single apology after all that and they still have the cheek to send me letters about reconnection.

never been concerned with prices but as my las gas bill was £28 for the quarter i guess thats my priveledge.

if the calls are annoying you either call their uk complaints line or just ask if you can put the caller on hold a second then see how long they wait before giving up. they will learn the hard way if nothing else.
