I'm off to Brixton this evening and not entirely looking forward to the trip back, can anyone suggest the best way back? It'll be after the last tube I suspect (2am ish), so I guess it's night bus or cab? Suspect the latter will be hugely expensive?

Drive. Easy enough to park on streets around there.

There are nightbuses, but it'll take ages. Book a minicab, a black cab will cost a fortune.

Cab is about your only option, unless you fancy sharing ~2 hours on nightbuses with the absolute scum of humanity.

Rough guess, I'd budget £80 or more. Probably better to find a hotel/ b&b.

Can't suggest a route but can suggest a mode of transport

Depends if you want to stop off at a hospital to have the knives and bullets removed.

I am of course joking. For all I know, Brixton could have had the same transformation as Notting Hill.

If you considering spending closee to £100 for a taxi, you may as well ask a friend or relative if they'll pick you up for £30.

Sadly, at 3am not only does the chance of a friend picking me up greatly decrease, but unfortunately the chances of the knives and bullets comment ringing true also greatly increases.

I think we're going to risk it on the nightbus - there's a stop just outside the club apparently which takes you to Trafalga Square and then a second one that goes all the way back to Enfield. I just hope the local chavs aren't on 'bash a goth' duty. rolleyes

I used to spend a fair bit of time waiting for nightbuses in Brixton on a Friday night (ten years ago, mind). I think the N2 or N3 should get you back to Trafalgar Square, not sure from then on. They're a lot better than they used to be I think, but frankly if I were you I would either give an airport run cab company a call, speak nicely to a friend/relative, not drink and driver there, or leave earlier and get tube/train.

I'd offer to give you a lift myself for a few quid if I wasn't working tomorrow and didn't only have an MX-5!

It'll be 50quid from (say) The Brix to (say) Enfield police station.

Try anyone of the thousands of online quote places. Like this one https://www.addlee.com/quotation/quickQuotation.xh... (although they come in at £54.20). But it's a start smile

From Tulse Hill, and I can honestly vouch for the number that is on a shop sign next to the Woolies, classic mini-cab service and can recommend it. But why you would be messing around in Brixton on a Friday night? Aside from Ivan's Retreat, the place is a dump. I believe the Wetherspoons in Brixton to be the only one that is busier during the day then it is at night biggrin

once you get to trafalgar get the N29 to get to Enfield

I would count on a good 2 hours for the whole journey though, Enfield is a fair way out

Cheaper than a hailed black cab at that time of night.

Mind you, I once was drunk and lost in Maida Vale having missed the last tube and decided it was easiest to walk home. To Uxbridge. The black cab that I managed to hail at 2am only cost £45. That's further than Brixton-Enfield, although it may take a bit longer which would add to the cost.

hehe Woke up after a night on the lash in Sudbury at about 3am when the night bus got to the terminus. Walked back to Willesden Junction - wished I'd got a cab after that one, it was light by the time I got home!

I got a cab at 5am once from Knebworth to 'somewhere in North London' which is as far as he'd go, then another one from there to Bromley.

That was an expensive journey home....well over a ton. frown
