Am I turning into a moaning old git ?

I go to Tesco to buy shopping. I dont particularly enjoy it, I just want to get in do it and get out. Now it seems that both Tescos near us have sold space in their car park to a 'hand car wash' company, and boy are the fkers persistent. They are all Polish so dont speak brilliant english and dont seem to understand No.

'You want car wash

No thanks

I do for you good deal lovely clean , you want car wash

No really Im just popping in for some bread.

I do car wash good job no problem'

At this point he is following me towards the store entrance and I walk off ignoring him. He's still trying 'you want car wash, special price' behind me as I make it through the entrance.

So now I just ignore them. they still fking follow me. Do I need to punch them to make them stop ? This really really gets on my tits I hate being bothered in the street. I dont want to buy stuff from some wker in a badly fitting suit. I dont want to do a survey. I certainly dont want a fking car wash while I am getting some bread.

And the best part ? I turn up in the TVR having washed and polished it for several hours. car wash tt walks over, looks at the TVR and says 'Nice car. You want wash, I do special job'. Arrghhhhhhh

Poles?
You are lucky our Tesco in Loudwater under the M40 has Africans who are so sparse with water that they can wash a whole car with one wet sponge.

Its like that in Dunstable too, however the robbery level in the car park is now close to zero. None of the local scrotes seems to want to go tea leafing when there's a dozen healthy blokes working in the car park.

There's a collection tin rattler at the local Morrisons. If you don't put anything in her slot she gives a look that makes your nuts shrivel.

Go to Waitrose instead. I used to get it as well, before I stopped shopping at Tesco. Spend the afternoon cleaning and polishing the car, drive down to the shop.... "want a car wash mate?" - does it fking look like it?

Sounds like we are lucky with our local Tescos then as the Poles there do a good job without any touting for business. They must be some sort of concession and pay Tesco to be there, so I'd think a quiet word with customer services should be enough to curb their keenness.

It's the same with Sainsbury's near me.

I can't say they hard sell as you have described but the spaces are so tight I don't want someone squeezing around the car next to me trying to wash it.

At least in Homebase they have a reserved area to one side of the car park.

I've driven in Tesco's after giving my car a light detail, - the car has such a gorgeous deep black wet glossy shine the africans take one look and dont bother asking smile

When it is dirty however, the africans do only ask once then leave me alone.

I do however shop at sainsburys whenever possible

In my supermarket, they've recently rebranded and now call themselves 'spongers'. Well that's if you believe everything you read in the DM.

I came out of Tesco's one night and the guy was washing a car next to mine. He had left his trolley of stuff behind by car. While he wasn't looking I moved his trolley to the other side of the car park, walked back and greeted him as I got in my car. He rushed round to the back of my car to move his trolley and...well his face was priceless!

Clearly you're not very good at this washing and polishing malarkey!

It's the same deal in Sainsburys.

I watched them trying to clean a massve 4x4 that was caked in mud. I think it overwhelmed his tiny bucket of water just a bit.

It kinda reminded me of when the local kids knocked on my door and offered to clean my car. The little guy held up his bucket and said "It's allright we've got our own sponges and stuff".

Prominent in the bucket was a bottle of Jif cream cleaner!!!

hehe
