It is just beginning to dawn... After all this ridiculous furore we have just got rid of the two best entertainers we had.
For the love of God, there was a reason why Ross was so highly paid! He was very good! I cannot believe that they had single figure complaints before the bladdy daily mail got hold of it. Has anyone here actually listened to it? It really wasn't that bad, ffs.
Besides which, the granddaughter HAS slept with him AND she looks like a bit of a slut, calling herself a groupie on her myspace site. In my book a groupie is a bit loose in the knicker elastic department.
What a kick in the balls for freedom of speech! An apology would have (if fact DID suffice, manuel was happy after they said sorry) been enough. What is more, it's the sodding controllers/"executives" that should have prevented it from being aired.

The whole thing is just so idiotic. please, all:

BOYCOTT THE DAILY MAIL!

(There's nothing like a knee jerk reaction!)

I think Ross and Brand were just a catalyst for people to realise just how far the BBC have sunk.

Henry Winkler, The FONZ. Was asked why he gave up the role . . He said it was no longer nice to see a 50yr old man hittin' on teenage chicks.

WOSSY should have learnt a lesson there.

Good.

And even better is that they have Richard Alliinson sitting in, thanks for the heads-up will be tuned into Radio 2 now instead of Absolute.

Our best entertainers are the British public.

They're fed up with dreary stories about 'The Downturn', they heard some overpaid hooray swear at an old man and thought - hey! think that's cutting edge? We'll show you, you overdressed tt...

...and then staged one of the best and funniest coup's since they hung Saddam...

It's payback. And very amusing it was too.

C'mon, what do you actually remember about Ross, what memories of him warm your empty days, what balmy capers give you goose bumps?

None.

I can't think of any.

OK, he liked little Japanese girls...

And he USED to have an acerbic wit, now though he's just a letchy old man riding on the coat tails of younger more contemporary 'entertainers' (your word)

No, the whole episode played out marvellously.

I got very bored with Ross years ago, he's a tired jowelly roue.

Good entertainers shine through, good entertainers know when to push the boundaries (Monty Python, Christopher Morris).

What's the difference between God and Jonathan Ross?

...God doesn't walk down the steet thinking he's Jonathan Ross...

Before all this I had no idea who Russel Brand was and didn't like J Ross. After this and from what I've seen, Russel Brand is not funny and I still don't like Jonathan Ross, who has never been funny IMO, so there's no real loss for me.

Sums up how I feel exactly. I hope his producer Andy Davis is OK though, we were at school together.

So the BBC frees up at least £16m of license payers' money to spend on something other than a floppy haird egotistical fkwit.

Surely we all win out of this.

read the mail online more than I buy it, think it was a pair of tards phoning up some old guy to tell him they had sex with his grand daughter and other pleasantries, then tried to get it deleted but were caught as it was a recorded show....

was seriously tempted to bin the licence over it, do not watch loads of tv and the thoughts of me having to pay them to be abusive to old men and their granddaughters is not good

Isn't it only around £1.5M as he's unortunately coming back in a month or so.

I was really rather hoping that the BBC would strap a pair on and fk him off. Assuming the man doesn't have the decency to fall on his sword - which I think is a safe assumption.

Yep, he gets a nice break over Xmas.

It's a shame the papers are now aghast about his Halloween party, poor guy! OK, i don't go out of my way to watch him, and he made a minor epic fail, but FFS, his kids didn't.

And he didn't kill anyone...

FFS!

If he is still around after Xmas, the ratings will out.

Anyway, moving on...

Ross is money driven, there is no way he would walk. He is probably at home appreciating a nice but slightly expensive 12 weeks off. From memory he doesn't normally have long holidays so I doubt he cares. The BBC were never going to, or be able to sack him; the sketch phone call was planned and ok'ed by them. It would cost them £9m to get rid of him, Brand was the scarifical lamb, ross gets to stay.

His "entertainment" has been going down hill for years getting increasingly cring worthy with the passing years.

I expect more of the same when he gets back.

Whilst Ross is not everyone's cup of tea, it seem indicative of the UK today that we don't have room for him or Brand on our broadcast schedules. You can't please all of the people all of the time, but that's what the BBC will be urged to do now, anything faintly edgy will now be replaced with Last of the Summer Wine, Antiques Roadshow and Trumpton.

What summed up this whole 'Oh golly, I'm really shocked, let's ring in' moment, was a broadcast outside Ross's house where he was having his Halloween party for the neighbourhood children and the reporter said "the party's still going ahead, lots of children in fancy dress and.... little sign of remorse here, back to you in the studio'.

Pathetic.

Same here.

I am confused as to how two presenters who crossed the line in the name of "entertainment", the BBC allowing it to go to air can then get a boycott the Daily Mail from the OP confused

Is the Daily Mail to blame for everything, even including poor judgement calls from the BBC? It's cold today. That Daily Mail has talked us all into feeling cold, every one boycott it laugh

I'm sure Andrew Sax would have recieved just as much grief had he turned up for the show, he knew what he was in for. The phone call was a little to much but a simple apology would have been fine.

I think his interview with David Cameron was far worse.
