cash - do you still use it?
Discussion
I'm not sure cash has the allure it once had when making big purchases - it simply means the seller can't make some extra money by selling you a finance package.
I tend to use debit cards because I don't always find it convenient to go and get cash once a week. It is nice to be able to toss the receipts in the bin without shredding them when you use cash though!

But 'getting discounts' merely exacerbates the current financial situation. You want to save money but the people selling stuff have to make a living too.
They can always say no! And the mark ups of many retailers is huge on certain good. Also, depending on their arrangements with the banks, they can get charged a percentage of the transaction, so if it's large why not split the difference with the customer?Personally I only really carry cash when I'm out boozing - never carry more than £50ish unless I'm expecting a heavy night!

Some people in this society would do well to start using cash a bit more for everyday shopping, maybe they would start to put a value on things.
Take 1 weeks worth of cash out on Monday morning. If its spent by Thursday, tough s
t. if theres any left over by Sunday, put it in the savings account.

Once when the world was young, you got paid in cash and if you spent it too quickly, you went hungry. People learned to value money as a precious commodity. You could only spend it once.
Plastic cards mean that not only do you forget you are spending real and irreplaceable money, but they allow you to buy stuff before you can actually afford it. That is the top of the slippery slope - a slope that we've just seen the bottom of.
