Music in the kitchen.

Depends! Factors inc:
- how high up is the unit? (More grease with the warm air at the top)
- how far away is it from the cooker?
- is it just something like a radio rather than a cd player where the drawer opens and closes in a greasy atmosphere?
Stick it on a work surface away from the cooker and you should be fine....

Does it do a cd player or some such thing (I-pod ) any harm internally.
Not talking about a radio here.
It would only do them harm if the condensation built up on the inside enough to short something out, but it'd take an excessive amount of steam to do that as they're normally well sealed. Especially the iPod. I wouldn't worry about itNot talking about a radio here.
I've had loads of cd players die because customers use them in kitchens - grease gets on the laser lens, then the error correction goes mad, turns the lazer up to 11, and the mech lasts 1/2 the time compared to the same player in "normal" conditions.
Why not use mp3 / ipod? things with no cd to put in / eject costantly are good, or if you want a micro hifi affair, try the onkyo / denon nutters that record to mp3 - more convenient, and no moving parts = no reliability issues.
