I've been asked to drive the main wedding car for some friends who are looking to stage their wedding on a shoe-string.

I have a 1999 BMW 540i (VERY good example) and have managed to get hold of some white ribbon to get that 'V' shape at the front of the car - and have some ribbon bows to finish off the look.

My question is this...

How do I tie the ribbons off?

I've seen some tied to the wing wirrors, and some ribbons going in through the front side windows - even some just going in the side of the door / window seal.

Which is best?

If you route the ribbons through the side windows / window/door framw, wouldn't the 'V' collapse when you open the doors?

Is this particularly a problem?

You see I'm a car / ribbon virgin (which isn't a bad thing).

What do you think?

Tie them to the sun visors, then shut the door on them. This way, you can open the doors without them falling down. If you attach them to the windows or just trap them in the door, then every time you get in and out of the car they will fall on the floor. HTH.

Plus, don't put them on until the last minute, or they'll sag.

To decorate a wedding car tastefully, may I refer you to the wedding scene in On Her Majesty's Secret Service?

Just be careful when removing the flowers afterwards, especially if a Mercedes approaches

Firstly clean your grille.

Then attach one to the drivers sun visor. Easy way to do this is wrap it round the hinge part then grip with a cable tie. Easy to get very tight and easy to get off with a pair of cutters.

Feed the ribbon through the grille and back out so it looks neat and lays well.

Now put the bonnet down and don;t lift it again! wink

Now attach to the other sun visor hinge and secure as the first after checking the doors close alright before pulling tight.

Thereby neatly chopping the ribbon in half!
