I'm guessing some people who sign up for the police were bullied at school, hence they feel the need to return the favour to innocent passers by.

I was out last night, and I was walking back for a taxi, when a police car pulled over (a traffic car too, I hasten to add), down comes the window, and the cop sitting in the passenger seat starts shouting at me, saying "What the hell do you think you're doing, who do you think you are, I've got a good mind to lock you up". So I enquire what it is that I am mean't to have done, and he answers "don't be answering me back, not unless you want to spend the night in the cells, I suggest you fk off right now, or thats where you'll be".

Then they just sped off.

What was the point in that? I hadn't done anything wrong, I was just walking back, minding my own business. In over 10 years of going into town, I've never had any bother, but when I do happen upon it, its from the very people who are supposed to be "upholding the law". People like them are a disgrace to the job. I didnt even get the chance to get their number or anything like that. Even if I did and I complained, I doubt anything would get done, I'd be dismissed as a drunken idiot.

How on earth people like that get jobs, I'll never know. rolleyes

As I said I didnt get the chance, they just pulled over, abused me for a few seconds and sped off. I was shocked TBH, and also I admit I was a bit drunk being as it was the end of a night out, so probably not thinking clearly, but still I was not doing ANYTHING wrong. Not unless walking to the station for a taxi is breaking the law.

That's outrageous.

Lone person, walking along - not littering, kicking anything nor pissing in the streets. Minding your own business, not saying boo to a goose, diserving of no police attention or interaction whatsoever.

Don't moan about it here - Call up the relevant Force's Professional Standards Department and complain.

They will investigate it with great zeal, sieze relavent CCTV tapes and nail the dodgy bobby to the wall.

(Maybe they supported Man Utd and you were wearing an Arsenal shirt?)

No for a change, my pants were firmly around my waste biggrin

No point in complaining really is there. I cant see anything happening of it. Strangely enough, if there was any place in town without CCTV then that would be it (very bottom end of Westgate Road, just around the corner from the High Level Bridge for anyone who knows Newcastle).

Its an indication of the world today that I wouldn't do that. If one of them got in trouble (and thats a mighty big if.) then no doubt you would have a little black tick against your record especially at the station where they were from. From then on if you need the bib or got pulled over for anything I'm sure you'd get well looked after.

Sorry if this offends anyone on here who is in the force & I'm sure you're really nice guys & I know there are bad apples in every work place but my recent experiences with the police whould lead me to believe that unless one of the coppers shot you not a lot would happen and it just work against you in the long run.

Also we have a guy at work who is a Special Constable and he has severe personality problems including stalker tendencies so I wouldn't be at all surprised if it might have been one of these 'hobby bobbies' flexing their muscles. (Again sorry if anyone here is a Special Constable and I'm sure they also do sterling work but if you imagine the biggest prick in your office being a policeman in his spare time you'll be about halfway there.)

Is the only explanation I can think of.

And if anywhere in Newcastle needs CCTV, then I'd suggest Westgate Road is towards the top of the list.

Not surprising at all. I've experienced both ends of the copper spectrum - most of them (Trafpol in particular) are excellent, they come across as very experienced and professional.

The coppers in towns etc are a different breed.

I was once arrested (along with another lad who was simply crossing the road with his chips) cos a fight was taking place with a group of lads. Nothing to do with me whatsoever, I was walking my gf home.

So me and this other lad end up getting taken to court where the two coppers lied through their back teeth about how we were fighting. The thing is that the thick bds weren't expecting to get properly cross-examined and they can't listen to each other testify. Stories fell apart very rapidly indeed. Magistrate chucked it out and called them 'disgraceful'. Long time ago now so I doubt any black mark exists cos of it.

I still come across the other bloke (after 23 years!) if I'm out on the town and we always have a laugh about it. Neither of us has any idea who the gang of lads who were having the fight were.

Well it was a good impression of one then, seeing as they were in a fully stickered Volvo.

That end of town certainly counts as one of the "dodgier" bits although I've never had any trouble... but you might expect trouble of some druggy scumbag not off the cops!

Funny you should mention that, But I used to work with a special constable who was openly hurrendously racist, but I guess that is not unheard of.

clutching at straws here as i do still try to believe in our Police, perhaps you were mistaken for someone else, they had either 'spoken' to already or been given a description of ?

I've never experienced anything random like that, and a few times when I've been a nuisance on a night out (no proper trouble just loud / annoying etc etc) they've probably been more civil to me than i deserved ?

There is no situation that a member of the public deserves to be spoken to like that!
