Paypal is s
te, and that's official. I've only ever used it once to make a purchase from Ebay and have no intention of ever using it again. A while back I put the account on lockdown after they allowed someone to make three fraudulent transactions
Today I got an e-mail saying another e-mail address had been added to my account
Now this could be a phishing e-mail or it could be from them, who knows. I thought "I know, I'll just ring up and cancel the whole darn thing".
Well what a f
king soul destroying waste of time that was. "Sorry Sir, you'll have to reactivate your account through the web first". No, I don't trust Paypal, it wants all sorts of sensitive information to do that, just cancel it.
Sorry Sir, computer says no
"No-one in Paypal can do that". "Don't f
king lie to me"
"We both know that's an outright lie!" There's a huge difference between can't and won't
"I don't appreciate being called a liar Sir". "Well we both know you just told me a lie so the statement still stands".
FFS, I just want to cancel the sodding thing and have nothing whatsoever to do with the s
tty organisation whatsoever...
Anyone got an e-mail address or phone number for a sentient being within the company so that I can just get rid of it forever?

That's the problem, as soon as I log on it wants me to reset my password and security question and I'm unwilling to do it. Classic phishing characteristic, although she assured me that's their procedure
Not a single braincell in the entire company.
For the benefit of Google's indexer, Paypal sucks donkey cock

You don't have to click on a link in an email to do it, though, do you? So if you just go to www.paypal.com and sign in, how on earth is that a "classic phishing characteristic"?

Indeed.
Always go to www.paypal.com and do all your stuff from there. Never click links from e-mails etc as they could re-direct to dodgy sites that look like paypal but aren't... if you see what I mean.

I had a nice letter from the bank telling me I was overdrawn, £350 over my overdraft limit, I'm thinking WTF?!?!?! Logged in online to see a Paypal item for £560! According to Paypal I have bought an ounce of Krugerrand from Ebay (let's hope the price of Gold goes hope!), funny how there is no mention of this on my Ebay account anywhere. I haven't used Paypal in the last 6 months for anything!

Probably more chance of being "stung" by the real Paypal though; shower of sAlways go to www.paypal.com and do all your stuff from there. Never click links from e-mails etc as they could re-direct to dodgy sites that look like paypal but aren't... if you see what I mean.

However none of that matters, previous events mean I have no trust, I do not want the account to become active in any way shape or form as I simply don't trust the company to act in my interests. All I want to do is close the account

Doesn't matter particularly as I'll just put a block on them with my bank.
I'm surprised that Paypal haven't been investigated and shut down for the way that they operate yet, as everyone you speak to is either dubious of or has had a bad experience involving Paypal.
Whenever you need help, they are uncontactable. Deliberately. When they do grant you permission to speak to them about a problem, you get a foreigner who can't understand a word you are saying, then terminates the call for being aggressive when you get annoyed at the fact he can't speak or understand English. They feel free to decide the outcome of disputes based on the opinion of someone who knows nothing about the dispute, they charge you to withdraw your own money if below £50, then hold it for 5-7 working days before giving it to you. Any other bank in the world tries to help customers, but Paypal seem to hide behind some sort of bulletproof shield and totally ignore you.
Oh and did I mention their disgraceful fees?
I have been sharked so many times on ebay, both by scammers and as a buyer who has been sold misdescribed stuff. Yet everytime the process has been a joke and not decided in my favour despite doing everything by the book...
