Just watching the repeat of the Artic Challenge on Dave. At some point on their trip Jeremy and James hit upon the remains of a 1940s C47 aeroplane that had crash landed.

In the series the image of the plane (reg 316062) is clearly burried in thick ice and snow

That photo, taken in 1965, is pretty much similar to the scene faced by Topgear back in 2006/7.

However just a few years earlier this is what the scene looked like

That shot was taken in 1958 just 7 years before the previous picture and clearly shows that the area has gotten colder not warmer

Its an intersting theory. Maybe you should send it into TG. Get PH a mention on the show and you can bask as a legend forever. wink

Surely the difference in time of year may have something to do with the lack of snow here or there?

I didn't want to be so pedantic but now you've done it I actually think it's was done tastefully and is funny. Congrats.

Pedantic is for serious criticism, not whimsies, but thanks for your support...smile

It shouldnt really matter what time of the year the pictures were taken , If the town they set off was 400 miles away from pole then it should be snow all year round . The programe made me to belive they found it half way through the journey .

You must be really ignorant if you think man made pollution is not affecting world weather

So, what you're alluding to is the fact that the ice melted in the summer.

Crikey, who'd have thought it?
