OK, so we've got a "dodgy" area thread going, but what about the good bits? Surely everywheres got good bits going for it, hasn't it?

OK, I'll kick things off...

Quayside - say what you like about the drinking culture of the place, but its impressive to look at.

Saltwell Park, Gateshead

Jesmond Dene - Believe it or not this place is virtually in the middle of Newcastle!

Tynemouth

Grey Street, Newcastle

Quite a good thread idea after all the "UK is st" ones clap

Scammonden reservoir in the hills above Halifax. The M62 goes over the dam for this

Canal basin at Salterhebble a mile out of the town centre

Shibden Hall about half a mile up the hill from the town centre

The Piece Hall in the centre of town. If this was in London it would be a national landmark without a doubt. This photo only captures one side of an impressive square

The town hall. Done by the same bloke who did the Houses of Parliament

Calderdale. Halifax is down that valley somewhere

I have it pretty good I reckon - Loch Lomond near by, Glen Fruin road for a hoon or up the A82 to Fort William (Glasgow nearish if we want to go shopping but far enough away not to be affected by the bad bits)

After all the pasting i have given donny recently, it has one or two good points, such as its right on the a1/m18 corridor, is about 15mins from the m1, and i can be in the peak district within 1 hour!

Best bits about mine:
- Low population
- Great views
- Low traffic
- Fantastic roads on the doorstep
- Peace and quietness
- Open countryside
- Close to the coast and the mountains
- Minimal council/authorities interference in life
