Something a scratchin' in the loft

I guess it's that time of year. Sounds like a I've got a field mouse in the loft. The little bugger woke me up a 5 o'clock this morning.

Guess it's time for a repeller of some kind. Anyone had any success with anything to stop 'em?

Get a cat. I got tired of climbing up into the loft to set traps/remove mouse corpses.

We have no mice in the loft now, just dead voles/frogs/mice/rabbits that the cats bring into the house to torment to death and then dismember.

It might be a squirrel. If there are large droppings which look a little like liquorice torpedoes, then be very afraid. Those little vermin can chew through concrete.

More likely to be a rat in the loft.

We had the same problem with squirrels and as already posted they are very destuctive. The wiring and most of the things stored in our neighbours loft were absolutely trashed. No more problems since I invested in one of these, a Crosman Ratcatcher

I cant see the pic you posted there mucky, but I'd like some more info on this ratcatcher if you dont mind, as I have the same problem?

The Ratcatcher is a compact co2 powered air rifle, very light and easy to use. Because it runs on co2 there isn't any recoil so targeting is much easier. Mine was just over £100.

Big problem where I live. Big oak trees all around. The fkers run straight up the brickwork and destroy all the guttering, pointing, tiles, and ANYTHING you have stored in your attic. They are not classed as a pest so the council will do nothing.

I have a lovely Walther CP88 co2 pistol you would be welcome to borrow.

Low powered enough to use in the attic, 8 shots as quickly as you can pull the trigger.

I bought it for removing rats from the attic, and most successful it is too.

They generally bugger off when they hear the noise anyway.

Let me know should you wish to borrow it.

Nice one - cheers. I'm hoping it's a mouse or two, and a repeller might do the job. I'm going up to have a look tonight, as I'm brave like that...

We had the scratchin' noises just before dawn, turned out to be a colony of about 500 bats.

And now you can't have them moved either.

Try sitting outside the house at sun-set (or about 10 mins before) and see if anything flys out (or drives out in a black car with huge wings). Sun-rise was a better spectacle; they would all swarm outside the house for about 10 minutes and, just before the sun rose, suddenly dissappeared into the eaves.
