Paypal and Intrum Justitia

My friend got conned by ebay scammer who collected goods in person then filed a non delivery claim.


Anyway fast forward and after refusing to pay the paypal account , Intrum Justitia Debt Collection are called .

After telling them the money was not due he decides to pay them to avoid a ccj.

He makes payment but then upon meeting with bank manager it comes to light that they have overcharged the debit card by 5 times the amount over the course of the day.

Now they wont pass his call to a senior member to resolve the matter.

Surely this is illegal taking money from the card without authority ?

Is it best to carry out a chargeback and who can we complain to about this act ?

Are you sure that the 4x original amount "excess" is not the debt collectors fee for handling the case?

That's the 5th time this month I've heard of problems with Ebay/Paypal. I can only come to one conclusion. (Where's that picture of Fonejacker when you need it?)

How on earth would your friend get a CCJ if it went to Court?

You can't get a CCJ from a PayPal debt as there is no signed credit agreement between you and PayPal.
In fact, you just tell their debt collection people to fk off as there is NOTHING they can do.

I thought everybody knew this?

Problem was resolved as Intrum Sent Account back to Paypal.

Intrum are a strange bunch though!
Anyone else had an experience with them?

Had a bill from Intrum some time ago for "outstanding ebay fees". I was sure I had paid these,so asked for a copy invoice listing dates etc (I had closed this ebay account some months prior) I never got a breakdown, just lots more demands,susiquently found I did pay the bill at the time, but Intrum still contact me and send letters!!!!!
They are a bunch of muppetts!!!

I've got a dispute going with paypal and intrum justia for over a year for a mere £40. Had a buyer claim goods were never received, completed the dispute process with paypal and even after giving them the tracking number they decided against me!! Spoke to paypal a few times who tell me its my duty to ensure goods get delivered and i'm liable, which seems absurb. If you're entrusting goods to a third party how can it be my responsibility to ensure delivery. Anyway i've had at least a dozen letters of intrum and god knows how many arguments over the telephone, (easily twenty, they called me yesterday in fact). I keep telling them that i want to know what the alleged debt if for and they refuse to tell me everytime; all they tell me is that i have to pay them. Total bunch of tossers. I've sent them many letters, never replied to by them and when asked about this they tell me that they don't acknowledge any letters not sent by recorded delivery! I just told them my policy was exactly the same.

Avoid paypal like the plague because if you do get involved in a situation you will get harassed by Intrum justia

We just charged Intrum for lost working time in dealing with the matter for our friends.
This shut them up pretty quickly and they sent so called matter back to paypal.

If you look on the paypalsucks.com website, someone has drafted a letter which you can send them to get them to go away for good.

Try quoting the Administration Of Justice Act, Section 40, along with harassment, and threaten lagal action if they don't desist. That normally sends shivers.

If they cant prove the debt to the person who supposedly owes it how do they expect to prove it in court? I would tell them the proper forum for resolution of a disputed debt is a court and that is the only place you are willing to discuss the matter. There is no way they will go to court over £40.
