Guilty about my first thoughts on something.

Wifey gets off the phone from her friend, and informs me that her OH has a redundancy interview today (he's in construction FFS) and her friend is doing her job freelance and she's not got much business.
My first reaction, which luckily I managed to keep to myself was "Who cares, they've spent the last 8 years Living a dream paid for my credit, and yes the cars will have to go back, and yes they might have a problem keeping up the mortgage payments, and it'll all be a bit s
tty for them, but I don't care"
I actually managed to say "That's s
t for them, if they need any advice they only have to ask, and by the way there's an engineering and construction recruitment show advertised in the IET magazine. Why don't you pass it on to them ?"
I still feel guilty about my first thoughts.

As the 'best advice' thread stated, never tell anyone your problesm - half don't care adn the other half are glad.
Not sure why anyone would take pleasure in hearing of other's misfortunes. Do they have kids? It will be pretty s
tty all round if they have big troubles and kids etc to house and feed.

I came in and said "oooo i like the new glasses?!" she responded with "Thanks but everyone says i look like Thelma from Scooby doo" at this point i THOUGHT to myself "More like Ugly Betty if you ask me?!" now i had to try an stop my mouth from opening and just giggled at her and said "Oh no you don't just ignore them"
I still feel bad about thinking it and I am very proud of me for not SAYING as i can usually say something without thinking first and not realise what i have said but the guilt is still there evertime i see her.

You should feel guilty. I suggest you take a long look at yourself and the reasons for these thoughts. Are you jealous of how they've lived their lives or are you just a typical cynical know-it-all PH tosspot? My first reaction, which luckily I managed to keep to myself was "Who cares, they've spent the last 8 years Living a dream paid for my credit, and yes the cars will have to go back, and yes they might have a problem keeping up the mortgage payments, and it'll all be a bit s

I'm guessing that whilst they have car loans (I am told these are more per month than our mortgage) they probabally have equity in the house, they bought before the boom, and he did any work himself to a high standard. They have one infant aged child and one of 20, who pays only nominal rent.Note with regards to the cars - my car is worth about one months mortgage payment, it cost me 2 mortgage payments.

I did grimace inwardly with some wry amusement so if you're bad? Then so am I.
