I think more to do with future interest rate cuts being priced in.

Anyway, looks like a drop in forecourt prices may not happen despite crude falling too.

How long is it going to take Gordon Brown to realise that he is not in charge of everything.

In the past few weeks he's been quotes as telling the banks to start loaning to businesses, to pass on interest rate cuts to mortgage holders, telling other nations they should be doing what we're doing, the energy companies to drop prices and the oil companies to lower the price of forecourt fuel.

Should these companies really take the advice of a man who can't even keep his own organisation solvent?

He is being made to look like a very silly little man at the moment, with undue delusions of granduer.

Have you noticed how you never see him pictured together with Napolean Boneparte?

Don't worry chaps! A cheap pound means the whole world will be buying all the lovely stuff from produced in our factories.

Ok, scratch that then. We'll all just have to dress up on "Merrie Olde Britannia" costumes when they turn the country into a Heritage theme park to make the most of the tourist trade.

Well at least Napoleans had the decency to croak. Perhaps that explains it. Wish it could be arranged for thenm to be side by side though. Bit mean on the Frog though.

You cannot make judgements on what the "economic world" is thinking without understanding economics yourself. Exchange rates are driven (primarily) by interest and inflation changes - a major event today has been a signal on future interest rate shifts.

But no, the Daily Mail is definitely right, financial markets are driven entirely by your feelings towards a politician.

Well, thank you, Mr Pompous Arse.

Did you not stop to think whether my comment might not be somewhat flippant, as opposed to an attempt at an explanation of the dynamics of the market?

Anyway, if you do not understand the market's view on future interest and inflation rates in a country is coloured by its view of the likely success of the policies of the country's government and central bank, then you are not well qualified to comment.

I don't see the problem (unless you're headed to Disneyland or buying a council house telly).

Exports up, imports down. What's not to like ?
