Yes but cost of petrol/diesel isn't exactly cheap yet... Cheapest near me is 95.9p for unleaded petrol.
Comprising Tax/VAT 75p, oil 20.9p I believe.Edited by Jimbeaux on Wednesday 12th November 23:04

Down to 91.9 up here today.Which does not make me all happy & smiley like some of the gullible fools i've heard. Last time the Oil price was this low we were paying less than 80p per litre and even that's too much.

Petrol here now ranging between $1.69-2.25. Diesel around $2.95. Down from $4 & 4.95 respectfully tho months ago.
Such fluctuation leads me to believe that US fuel prices more accurately reflect oil prices, whilst UK fuel prices are terminally distorted by the back-breaking tax burden. Even if oil was totally free we'd still be paying 75p/litre.And then they wonder why nobody's got any money...

This bloody British Government has taken away our right to protest in the name of terrorism, apparently. With crude at these levels we should be out in the streets screaming so hard that Broon and Badger Boy would feel their chocolate starfish tighten enough to snap cold toffee. A quick glance at our American cousins, and indeed our mortal enemies on the other side of the water, the so-called cheese eating surrender monkeys, would show us how feeble we actually are at revolting. (Cue Monty Python jokes). Us Brits are f

You're not comparing like with like.Last time oil was at this level was early Q1 2007 when the unleaded price was 87.5ppl (AA prices) but, crucially, £1 bought you $1.96. Today it buys less than $1.50.
As other posters have suggested, the high price of fuel is much of more heavily weighted towards the level of taxation rather than the underlying cost of the raw material

Oct. 13 (Bloomberg) -- China, the world's second-largest energy user, increased crude-oil imports to a record last month, taking advantage of falling prices, as domestic refining capacity climbed.
Crude imports surged 46 percent to 20 million metric tons or 4.87 million barrels a day in September from a year earlier, according to Bloomberg's calculations based on figures provided by the Beijing-based Customs General Administration of China on its Web site today. August purchases were 15.65 million tons.

So a bit of a cut in supply and who knows.

Cheapest I have seen lately near me is $1.89 a gallon.
You know, Brown really has a set of brass ones, running around crying to the oil companies giving relief to Britain's motorists when the stupid b
d should think to himself "Hmm, we have the cheapest crude in the world and the most expensive Petrol, maybe we should remove some of the 70-80% of the price that's TAX?"
"Naah, goes against the way we think, innit".
