i was about to say hamster from it's rodent heritage, but i don't think they have useful biting teeth, so the budgie then for me.

A shrewd hamster would invite a budgie on to his wheel, make budgie dizzy then kick his beak in.

You're kidding? Have you never had one of the vicious hairy fkers clamped to your finger by it's teeth?

I saw a hawk/bird of prey take out a dove on the patio this morning frown

Poor dove hit the conservatory and left a bird shape mark on the glass.

Tried to scare the hawk off but it flew away with the dove in its claws.

Not the first thing you want to see in the morning whilst making your toast.

Hamster if it ended up being a slooging match but the budgie if it came down to a lucky peck.

is the budgie blue, gre, yellow or white as colour can make a difference ( Hamsters can't see primary colours)?

Also' is the Hamster in his winter coat because again, that could afect his agility to defend himself but also afford some protection against attacks from above.

Do either of them have weapons?

I don't think a hamster with a knife would be as threatening as a budgie with a knife.
