This thread could have been so much better. Could have been at... a swingers party, at the top of the oxo tower ...

Almost as sad as joining a forum to post the news.

Eh? If he is planning to propose without a ring I guess it is one way out of a Christmas present...

Not sure you thought this thread through though...

ETA: Good luck to him!

And your problem is?

If he wants to propose it's no-one elses business how and when he does it.

Unless of course she is a huge munter who won't give out, cook or clean. Then you can get involved.

ETA - ahem, strange name, first post - you're a regular aren't you? Trying to find out if it's a decent way to propose yes? biglaugh

I did just this last year. Worked out a treat.

Kept one small present back, and brought it out at the end.

Back of the net!

Although £100 of presents was kind of made irrelevant by £4k ring. laugh

Is there ever a good time to do it?

The girl will say yes and spend the next year planning some horrific event that you will be just a passenger in.

You will spend a lifetime.. or until you stray regretting tying the knot with some awful harridan.

But on the upside, if they both munt and are hideously tedious people then joining them up for good will give the rest of us some joy over the festive season.
