The topic earlier about Sci-Fi films reminded me that I bought the 5 disc set of Blade Runner a while ago off Amazon, but which one would be best to watch first?

Why not watch them in the order they were made? (They're all good)

What are the versions then?

i guess you'll have the 82 original, and the director's cut?

S'pose. Is the original considered the best anyway?

I'd watch the Final Cut first, and in fact that's what I did. smile

I'd go original, then directors, then final, get the basics first, then directors, unless the final is like a director's cut of a director's cut, then i'd go straight to that.

You'll get the general idea, then whatever extra bits were added as a background bonus, filling in blanks.

I've seen... things...

Director's Cut is my fave, but Final Cut in HD is impressive especially viewed on a large screen (my neighbour's is something like 18x11ft - he lives in a very big house!!). The original is narrated and gives a completely different feel to the movie.

Start at the beginning and watch them in order

He nicked it from a lecture theatre when it was due for refurb and it occupies the whole end wall of his living room. It's better than cinema because you sit in a leather armchair while he tops up your scotch every 10 minutes!

The Final Cut is the definitive edition, the other versions are just for completists, can't see why you'd want to go back to them.

It's like watching the regular version of T2 or Aliens, why would you do that?

Incidentally BR TFC is the only film I've ever seen on a digital cinema, truly epic quality, dunno why anyone bothers to still use film.

Boringly I prefer the original theatre releases of those films, the directors cuts are too long and flabby IMO. Although I liked the robot sentries in Aliens.

Excellent film, love Blade Runner.
I do find that it's quite a 'blokey' film though. My mum hates it, so do both my sisters & it did nothing for my wife! confused

Harrrison & Rutger. All those...memories.

Great Vangelis sound track too. thumbup
