Barclays is hanging around 139-141 share price. I know its hard to predict but do you think that this is going to dip even more or start picking up some more. I have a mate who went in at 165 and is making a loss of 5 grand at the moment.(he said hes gone in for the long term)

Luckily i bought at 180 and sold at a morning spike of 218 a few weeks ago.

Is this time to dive in while they are cheap? or is in going to collapse some more?

Definitely, put EVERYTHING you have in and buy now. I have it on good authority that Barclays are going to appoint a celebrity CEO - one that'll appeal to the stay-at-home mums :tapsnose: - so all of the "house-keeping" they put out for will be deposited for a personalised, signed-photo in return.

You int sin me, roight.

It was nice to read this morning that Darling has clarified the Government position in relation to the banks who did take their cash. Effectively HBOS et al are now just another branch of government.

He also managed to put in a warning that if Barclays didn't do the deal with the Saudis, he'd make the Government deal very, very expensive indeed.

Nice of Labour to interfere so heavily, isn't it.

Did he say that after the share dipped below the price he paid for them? The bloke who looks after my pension says the same thing.

+1 they're, along with HSBC are pulling overdrafts on viable, well-established clients of ours.

So he's riding it all the way down then? Way to turn a trade into an investment wink.

So, if you thought they were worth buying at 180 but needed selling on a 212 spike why the need to ask a question on here?

You haven't indicated any change in your beliefs about Barclays so there are only two possibilities,

1. Obviously buy again now, or

2. You took a stupid risk last time but it happened to work out OK. however, you're too nervous to repeat that throw of the dice.

IMO you need either to invest for the long term or simply accept that you're gambling. If gambling, there's not much point asking on PH whether a flipped coin is going to land "heads" or "tails"....

That wasn't luck. That was because you are a member of Pistonheads and he isn't.

On Pistonheads, no one ever loses money on shares.

On Pistonheads, no one earns less than £100k.

It's even a fact that every PHer who owns a house has bought that special house that has skillfully avoided the fall in house prices.

On Pistonheads, car owners have always paid less for their car than it's current value according to their profile. Each PHer should make millions in car appreciation alone.

The PH house renters, none of them chucked their money away for the last 10 years, they all timed in just right and sold at the top and will buy at the bottom.

The PH adults living with their parents, they could all afford to move out. If they wanted. It's really their choice. Honest.

Pistonheads. Choose smugness (and a dream internet reality).

Barclays - RBS would be a better trade; unfortunately you can't go short RBS(?)
One is paying the price for not taking government money (i.e. 14% vs 12%). The other may have lost the ability to dictate business strategy because it's partly nationalised. You takes your choice .. but i can't see the institutional shareholders selling their Barclays shares to invest in RBS/Lloyds.
