Ok, apologies in advance, but I'm really stuck. I'm looking to get rid of my Crackberry 8100 Pearl and I want a phone that is good for internet and email (push email) usage (needed for work). Camera isn't essential but useful.

So my short list atm is:

Blackberry Storm http://www.gsmarena.com/blackberry_storm_9530-2540...

Samsung Pixon http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_m8800_pixon-2535.p...

Sony Ericsson Experia X1 http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_x1-22...

O2 XDA Zest http://www.gsmarena.com/o2_xda_zest-2594.php

Samsung Tocco http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_f480-2268.php

LG Renoir http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_kc910_renoir-2495.php

So pro's and cons on those and any other suggestions welcomed!

Thanks

I don't like it, especially the browser.

Off topic i know, but is your screen turning itself off and on when your trying to use it? Mines done it a few times now.

I've got the Tocco. Nice and compact. Touch screen is actually pretty good, I was sceptical at first but found it pretty easy to use.

Screen is big enough (just) for internet surfing, although it has lack of wi-fi so can sometimes be a little slow.

Battery life is ok. In a usual day I'll have around 15 minutes of calls, 10 text messages and about an hours internet time. Only requires charging every couple of days.

Annoying parts. If you used to be rapido with keys the touch screen will halt your progress slightly. The camera shots on screen look crap, but when transferred to a comp they look good.

Its biggest downfall is the speaker though it sounds quite echo'd which apparently is fixed with a firmware upgrade.

The Omnia is a newer version, with more features, like GPS.

nope ?

only when its resting on top of its case (the magnets turn the screen off)

backlight timeout under options might help with that.

have you got the vodafone live update from yesterday yet?

I seem to have half of it (the new layout) but it says "update will be with you soon" and has done since yesterday . . . . . all works fine like, just that bit, never used it on my old phone so im hardly going to miss it.

If you don't need wifi and don't like the Iphone I'd go for the BB Storm.

I have the tocco and i gotta say its quite rubish , trying to send a text ? that would be 5minutes , trying to take a proper picture that would be 5 mintues , trying to find a name in the name boook ? 5minutes .

Ah, didn't know about the magnet thing, so that might be it, shall try and see what happens.
Not used vodafone live, so no is the answer to that. Will try it now and see what happens.

Edited to add, just tried and says check connections ?!?! got full 3G signal.

I have been into the vodafone shop to get the blackberry storm.

I have a vodafone contract that run out months ago so was interested in the 35 per month contract and a free phone, 600 free min talk unlimted internet and messages.

but becasue I am a customer already with vodafone the phone would cost me £100, and not free.

so as a new customer I would get a free phone, but a long standing 8 years plus I am not allowed the same offer because of my previous monthly bills even though I do not mind paying the £35 per month what a new customer would pay.

what would happen if i tried to order online as if i was a new customer, would i just need to cancel my currant contract (which technically ran out months ago).

+1

Another very happy Diamond user. Battery life isn't a problem for me because it spends about a third of its life connected to my PC, and it charges at the same time. I did have a TyTN II but went for the Diamond over the Touch Pro because I found that I hardly ever used the hardware keyboard.

Sony Xperia X1:

I have an HTC Touch Diamond, which is excellent. But I would have got the Xperia if it had been available at the time. It is basically an HTC inside anyway, but with improvements.

Had the same problem 3 months ago. 10yr customer and they wanted £80 for a new phone.

Phone up customer services and try and get through to someone who is above the entry level cretin who has limited powers. I've found the magic words are "look, if I'm going to spend £100, it'll be on an iPhone with O2 so either treat me properly or i'll be looking to move". Vodafone backed down on that threat and put me through to someone who could help. Phone arrived the following day in post.

Good luck!
