Why oh why oh why are Tesco ripping out all their proper cafeteria and replacing them with Costa Bloody Coffee? I travel all over the country, and use Tesco for breakfast maybe 3 times a week. During the recent program of stores refurbishment, many of these terrible, over-priced coffee bars have sprung up. I was dying for sustinance this morning, and the best they could offer was a 'special offer' of a mince tartlet with either a cappuccino or skinny latte (whatever that is) for £3.79. Up to last week, £3.79 would buy a full english, toast and a pot of tea. In the afternoon, they used to offer tea, scone, jam and clotted cream (pre packed, I know) for 1.99. Now its some wky variation of coffee and a stupid bloody muffin, and no change from a fiver!

I am not expecting many rant points, but I cannot concieve what the management are thinking of. It seems a backward step to me, especially in this day and age.

The cheap food at tesco couldnt have been making them money. They need to staff it and pay for equipment.

This way they make more money leasing the space out (possibly taking a cut of the coffee shop profit). Less hassle for Tesco too, less staff on their books and more money coming in.

Costa sign 12 month lease, so its pretty much guaranteed money. They cant guarantee you'll always be in there shoving your face with breakfast.

Find a M&S, bloody brilliant breakfast for a fiver.

What is wrong with the Olympic breakfast at the Little Chef exactly?

We need to start a campaign to eat at the Little Chef more, their problems only stemmed from expanding the menu beyond the Olympic and the breakfast pancakes.

I'd rather eat a roadside greasy spoon than eat at a Little Thief!

Maybe i need help, but it's not all just about the food, the 'Chef brings back memories every time i go in one. Trips/Hoons/Work/Great banter

For me the Little Chef signifies good times, it's a roadside fixture and i support it.

You can imagine if they all dissapeared, you would have people lamenting how much they liked it but had never been in it for 15 years. No wonder they're having problems. irked

I don't like Little Shet!, i'm sure if you cut up all the ingredients in a breakfast to the same size & did a blindfold taste test, you couldn't identify anything as it all tastes of polystyrene.

But we did used to eat a full English at Tesco especially this time of year when you crave a bit of hot fatty food...yum in a morning.

I'm sure there's no 'possibly' about it. They will definitely be having a sizeable chunk of profits from every cup!

Forget the bloody costa coffee, has anyone else's local Teco ripped out all of the carrier bag racks and put them under the checkout so only the cashier can get to them... and you have to ask for them rather than being offered!

Stupid, stupid idea

Ahhh, always wondered who the people were who would do a weeks shopping, then sit there and east some food whilst letting their frozen chicken nuggets defrost. Very strange...

The price it what's wrong with it. Biggest rip-off food in the country!
