In the United Kingdom, the national average wage in 2005 was estimated at £22,411
The price of the average UK house has risen by 187% to £179,000 since February 1996. this is a 2006 figure
now this is an 8 time multiplier
why did this not ring alarm bells in anyone else??
if one of the many financial experts on here can explain this i would be greatfull??

You've woefully misinterpreted the statistics here. The price of the average UK house has risen by 187% to £179,000 since February 1996. this is a 2006 figure
now this is an 8 time multiplier
why did this not ring alarm bells in anyone else??

There is no link between those receiving average wages and those who buy average priced houses. I'd guess almost all people on average wages live in rented accomodation, those people who can afford average priced homes will be on a much higher salary.

But not EVERYONE is a first time buyer are they.why did this not ring alarm bells in anyone else??
People like my parents that bought a house in 1976 for £4000 - found it was was now a house worth £250,000 and they had virtually no mortgage left to pay on it.
