Whilst Fawlty Towers is considered by many to be the pinnacle in situation comedy. I think Father Ted knocks it into a cocked hat.

Has any sitcom come close since then?

In answer to the thread title, Fawlty Towers

In answer to your other question, no.

Both excellent - but they are from different eras, I dont think a comparison can be made between the two.

Fawlty Towers brilliant, Father Ted brilliant, very hard to separate.

In all honesty, I'd say Spaced was better than both.

Nothing has come close recently to Blackadder, Father Ted, or Fawlty Towers.

What's going on?

Quite good but gets very repetitive. Also it has Graham Norton in, which is not good.

Mid seventies competition for Fawlty Towers was Dad's Army. Also very good.

Best comedy ever? Sgt Bilko.

Agreed, Bottom was excellent, but wasn't that prior to Father Ted..?
