Having not sold anything on ebay for a few years I'd forgotten how exciting it can be.

You list an item on a 5 day sale, watch as the bids increase by a few quid for 4 and a half days, but noting the increase in watchers and then whoosh in the last five minutes of the auction your item goes from 122 Euro to 237 Euro!

I was hoping for about 150 - back of the net!

I bought a fold up bike about 10 years ago for £350. Just sold it on fleabay for £450. They are only £500 new! It's amazing what people will pay.

BTW - I withdrew the money from paypal about 30 seconds after the sale.

Although they now demand your credit card number so they can grab it back from that when the scrote decides he wants the bike AND his money back...

They can collect the item, then post a dispute with paypal saying you never gave it to them or sent it. Paypal then take the money from you and give it back to them. There are ways round it, written receipt, film them accepting the item etc. But it's a bit of a pain. Best accept cash.

Which is why I usually put things on for one, or at a push three, day auctions.

Seems pointless, as hardly anyone bids until the last few hours.

You'd be surprised at the number of 'watchers' that came on towards the end of the auction.

Still, I guess it might depend on what time you list in order for the time that the auction wil end. I've heard it is best to get an auction to end late on a Sunday as most people will be home at this time and tracking their bids.

Some people may only look at ebay once a week, If I happen to be searching for what you're selling on a Saturday evening, but you list it on sunday eveing for 3 days I'm not going to see it am i?

A week long listing will get far more "window shoppers" who may turn out to be buyers.

I used to go for 10 day listings - that way they'd be there from Thursday night until the following Sunday night - trying to obtain as many "watchers" as possible.

I get all excited and nervous simply buying cheap stuff. It is more the battle of wills, the fastest finger, the nerves of steel counting down the last seconds to hammer that killing bid in, as I blow £5 on a Barbie outfit for my daughter.

You can see people trying to pip you at the last second, but you snipe them into oblivion and they fall like dross! "HA, got ya, you thought you were quick. Hey sonny, you didn't bring enough CASH to the party, ya cowboy!

hehe

My thrills come cheap. biggrin

Is buying second hand lids (albeit a minter like that) not a little frowned upon nowadays? Always used to be a massive no no due to the way the padding breaks in to first owners head.

Good price and a nice lid indeed!

For some reason everyone on eBay forgets the value of items and it suddenly just becomes competition to win the item :S
