Mobile with best camera ?
Discussion
Apologies for another mobile thread, but mine's up for the chop in next month.
I have an ipod touch that is with me all the time for mobile internettery and stuff, and don't use my mobile a great deal to be fair. I like the idea of having a decent quality camera with me at all times, and have noted the amount of megapixels is going up and up on new phones.
I know nothing about all this, but would assume it's a balance of quality of lens and amount of megapixels.
Or am I talking tosh and there's no such thing as a decent camera on a mobile yet ?
Thanks.

My Nokia N95 camera seems very good look at the super car rarities thread and the majority of tigerkoi’s photos were took using one to give you the idea of the quality image they give. The new Sony Erricson C905 however seems a better bet with an 8 mega pixel cybershot camera vs the 5 mega pixel on my Nokia. My friend has the model before c902 I believe and the images it took did seem very good and would argue that would be better bet than the Nokia. However at the moment would imagine would cost quite a lot and the N95 does seem a good cheaper option as can pick one up for around 150 quid on eBay and the 5 mega pixel camera does deliver a good quality image. Sony Ericsson K-Series phones tend to have the best optics.
Ignore the pixel count, concentrate on something with a decent sized lens and proper flash.
I have yet to find a phone with a better camera than my old K800i. It takes shots that are indistinguishable from those taken with a lower-end branded digicam.

I've got a Viewty with the 5mp camera. Awesome phone, which takes awesome pics. The only real failing is that it's slow to take the shot, so action shots are a no-no. Also the flash, despite being a proper one, is cr*p.
So that's two failings really.
It can do 120fps video though, and has a "steady shot" mode which allows you to not use a flash in conditions that would really surprise you.
I can post up some shots if you like- good and bad- to show you what it can do.

Just what I thought, big pixel numbers don't seem to be the only thing.
I'm in Norway and everyone seems to be flogging Sony phones fairly cheaply, I'll have a butchers at those.
Not sure I'd want a fancy pants N95 or similar, from what I read on here they seem to go wrong every once in a while.
Cheers chaps.

The software on Sony phones seems to be Windows based. By that I mean it locks up regularly and is totally illogical in the layout. I have one as a company phone and hate it with a passion.I'm in Norway and everyone seems to be flogging Sony phones fairly cheaply, I'll have a butchers at those.

Wot he said... still use my k810i when I need a camera.Ignore the pixel count, concentrate on something with a decent sized lens and proper flash.

The Nokia N82 I've got takes MUCH better pics than the K800i I used to have. Haven't tried a K850i though.Ignore the pixel count, concentrate on something with a decent sized lens and proper flash.

Phone seems very well made with its metal finish and weighty feel.
ETA The c905 also has a nice lense cover the N95 has not. I for one think this is rather important if you value good pics from a camera phone.

if you go for Sony your pretty much getting the sony digital camera cyber shot technology without the optical lens/zoom...
Nokia you tend to get the carl zeis lens... My n95 8gb is perfect for pictures.. I have no software problems at all, and working in phone retail i find it very RARE that the 8gb versions do have the software problems, it was the silver previous model that was rhubarb....
the Viewty is ok, the camera and video are top notch but I find them awkward and as it is a touch screen, texting is a nightmare unless you are good with predictive....
perhaps the u900 samsung, its a slide phone, partial touch screen, but with the inportant buttons. camera is a good 5mp.
LG renior is ok, the camera is very good, with smile recognition(I believe). I find the menu pretty awkward, but im not really used to it!!! another touch screen though....
