Job Hunting Websites

Hey guys, just a quick one.
Anyone know any decent job websites, particularly for the North West?
The job centre one which I've checked every day at work for the past 2 weeks churns out low-pay long-hour crap, monster.co.uk is terrible to navigate and is far too specific.
I've tried the NHS website but there's not much going for this region at the moment.
Also trying 'thejobsmine' currently; but apart from those 4, which have never really been too cracking (then again I suppose they can only post what's available!), I don't really know of any others - Do you?

Also google for jobs in your area. There tends to be local job boards which don't post up on the big ones.

The kind of job you're looking for would help. You mentioned the NHS website, are you wanting something in this area or public sector? The website for public sector jobs is www.jobsgopublic.com. I think they do list some health jobs.
www.thejobsmine.co.uk is a good one for the North West specifically.
You could also try www.reed.co.uk
There is also www.totaljobs.com, but these tend to send you a lot of stuff that doesn't match your requirements

Haha no no my job is very secure, but I could use a little more money and something more challenging; back when I was at my whits end of unemployment in the summer this job was like a diamond in the rough amongst the potwashing and telesales that goes around these parts, but now that I'm in a secure position, have a car (can travel further etc), and some further qualifications behind me, I need something else.
You've seen me on these forums near enough every day because there's so little work for me to do, I basically come to work to read Gassing Station - Some of you might think it a dream come true, I'm so lucky etc, but 5 days a week, 8:30-5:00 doing nothing but hitting the refresh button and occasionally taking a call or filling in an invoice since Summer, it's beginning to grate.
The main problem I have is that I have a career ambition that I'm on my way to achieving, but it will take a year or two due to the process, but, due to that I can't think "I want to be a lawyer/engineer/other specialist/training required job", because I'd be training, then leaving by this time next year.
I just need something that pays well, isn't silly hours, and is suitable for a bright (arguable, maybe!
) A-Level educated fella who's a dab hand at PCs. Doesn't necessarily mean admin jobs though, as photocopying and Microsoft Excel doesn't exactly tickle the tastebuds. So my problem is I'm look for a decent half-way house job? Perhaps that's asking too much (If you want a good job, gotta specialise etc?)
I'm in a much stronger position than I was months ago though hence my pickiness; my job is secure and it pays enough (just), and I now have a car to travel further and not rely on public transport like I did when I first got this job - But it's just so boring.
And PS. This is for East Lancashire.

Can you use the time you would otherwise spend on here to get some background study done on whatever career it is you want to pursue? Are textbooks or training manuals available before you start the training? Just a thought. Republik said:

Yeah, with everyone losing jobs left right and centre it's a bit risky I know, but for instance, I could fit a whole day's work into 2, maybe 3 hours if it all came at once, but instead it just trickles throughout the day. Hours go past before something happens; but I can't say, put the radio on because KISS or Rock FM is blaring throughout the whole office and drowns it out, or if I whip out a book the bosses' give me some really mundane task to do; believe me, in the first few months working here I went to them and said "Look, there's not too much to do over there; anything need doing?"Don't move from a sensible, safe job to one where you might out the door within a month.

"Sure, trawl through the database over the last 5 years and compile a list of blah blah blah" - Queue the next 5 days spent wearing out the CTRL + C & V keys.
