Now I normally hate these car-related "is this a scam" threads where someone is advertising a car for about 1p with no phone number, but I got this email this morning at work which has got me puzzled:

Hello,

i am with Great honor reaching you.first of all i would like to introduce myself to you and your whole Company,my name is Rev.Andy Raymond and i am the Father of By His Grace Church of Living God.

with regards to your product and service,i came across your contact and noticed that you can supply me with Fireplace for our Church Home and office use,and as such i urgently need these for our Church use,i would be Glad to receive your response with the list of Domestic and Commercial Fireplace that you can supply,so that i can decide on the type and budget to go in for.hoping to hear from you as soon as possible.

Looking forward to welcome your response.

Stay Bless
Rev.Andy

It does have the same punctuation as the car related ones, but how could the fireplace industry can be targeted? Perhaps offer more money than the fireplace is worth and try to have it shipped to another country? Even so, it did give me a chuckle on a Monday morning, especially the 'stay bless' line, reminded me of the Padre from Garth Merenghi's Darkplace laugh

"I am with great honour"

That's how far you have to read the email to work out it's a scam.

True, but I can't figure out how they think they can scam me?

You see they can try and take the mantel of being the biggest scammers in Fireplace supply history, but the title just grates on me and, if I'm honest, it's one of those pranks that'll burn bright and fade away. Oh well, at least they put their hearth and soul into it, I suppose.

You've got to love the logic.

'No-one is stupid enough to respond to our scam mails anymore... I know, maybe if we pretend to be a priest they'll think we're more trustworthy!... even if the english still looks like it's been written by a Moroccan gardener'

There's no smoke without fire.

(I think I should have spent another couple of minutes trying to work that into this situation a bit more).
