Mrs Tee has noticed that lately i stop breathing until she kicks me!!

anybody else do this?

Will i make it until Christmas?

yep, my dad suffers this along with excessive snoring!

If you have private health care I'd use that personally, it took the NHS 10months to get my dad sorted

You'll more than likely end up with a breating kit (mask and an oxygen pump) which will help control your breathing during the night.

ye I have done it a few times... woken up when my body twitches/flinch because it is raidly running out of oxygen!!!

perhaps twice a year... its a bit wierd to say the least....

+1 - Is your neck size bigger than 17" and are you overweight? (not being nasty, just asking as obesity is a contributing factor)

Mate at work mentioned this issue to his doc. First thing the doc did was call the DVLA and have his driving licence suspended. Took him months to get it back.

I'm curious as to how this conversation came about.

bigTee & Mrs bigTee asleep in bed. Well...bigTee is asleep, Mrs bigTee is wide awake from the cacophony emanating from bigTee.

My OH does it all the time usually accompanied with and very strange splutter noise as he tries to force the air into his body.

Generally will only breath again if i give him a shake or eventually he'll wake himself up and breaths happens about 3-4times a night.

Now i know he suffers from a throat problem where it closes up or the muscles will tense up that much it closes his throat he gets the same whilst eating, and has to have a glass of water when going to bed for during the night.

Oh yes. Did the sleep test two weeks back and was given results
on Thursday. I stopped breathing 84 times in a single hour.
Longest period was 61 seconds!! Just started a seven day evaluation using CPap.
Scarey bit is informing the DVLA and the lose/keep license lottery?

There was some research paper a while back that linked professional drivers to sleep apnoea and road accidents.

The theory went...

Drive all day & eat 'calorie dense' foods.

>Put on weight

>Develop sleep apnoea.

>Suffer from chronic sleep deprivation.

>Nod off at the wheel.

Dunno how realistic this is though.

Why would stopping breathing when asleep affect your ability to drive a car?

Surely the "being asleep" bit is the salient aspect you want to avoid when in control of a car?

The "not breathing" element is just for decoration...

Yeah I do this, never died, yet.

Normally I wake up gasping. Been doing it for all my adult life, I'm sure I will be fine.

There was a post about this a few weeks ago. Turned out there are a few mental people like thee and me.
