Help needed - Nintendo Wii

The missus wants to get a Wii for out 5 year old daughter for Christmas - and for me if the truth be known

Other than the basic console and 2 controllers, what other extras would you recommend for a child aged 5? I've heard of a dance mat of some sort. Are these worth getting and, if so, which one as there seem to be loads of the bloody things out there

You don't really need anything else.

Buy Mario Cart with the steering wheel though....great fun.
Oh and I also bought a gun for Resident Evil.

My four year old lad is getting one for ' Sinterklaas' on 5th Dec (St. Nicolas / Dutch present giving). I was thinking of Mario Kart + wheel for me. And Wii Fit for me

I would get the Wii Play as it is more games along the lines of the sports disc that comes with it but you get a free controller with it or rather its about £35 and a controller on its own is 30 odd

Mario kart is pretty good ,not sure whether a 5 yr old would get to grips with it though

How much is everyone paying for their Wii? Im looking at them now for my brother, basic price £179.
I'm sure i have seen them in shops for around the £130 mark? Am i making this up or have/are they been cheaper before Christmas??

2 controllers + 2 nun chuks (Apologies if mispelt) Great fun on Christmas day.

Dont know if I'ld trust a 5yr old with one, let go of the remote and bang goes the tv.
Personally I've had alot of fun playing the old Gamecube games with the normal controller.

no threat of that sir. They have straps that safely secure the controllers to the infant's wrist. Just make sure they heed the advice and use the strap and your 1k plasma is safe
