What temperature do you set your thermostat?

What it says in the title really.

I suppose in part it's a credit crunch question.

We have ours set at about 18 deg during the day and 19 in the evenings. Our friends came round the other night and they said that most people's houses are too hot for them but ours was fine. So, do we keep it colder than everyone else, or not?

Our boiler is playing silly b4ggers at the moment, so the house is about 14º!!

Being a Northerner I have no knowledge of these thermostat things. I have been known to roll my shirt sleeves down a bit if it gets really cold.

When the heating is on about 17 degrees.

But then it's rarely on, it's bloody freezing in my room despite it having been on for an hour because it doesn't keep the heat on, so it seems fruitless to put it on at all...

The problem is that's the temperature at the stat. The real question is what temperature is it around the sofa, for example. We tend to aim for 22C. Bugger is this is a listed flat and leaks heat like mad....

Not got one. At the moment heating is on for an hour in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening. If I'm cold, I generally put another jumper on

Mine is at 22, but that is because m house leaks heat too as it is damn hot.

Between 16/17 degrees, 24/7. Main bedroom radiator is turned off for I can't stand heat in the bedroom.

16, but the missus keeps on putting it up to 18 or 19....

Curently set to 19.5 degrees, down to 16 when i'm not at home.

Thats spooky i just went to check mine as i am feeling cold then i see this thread, mine is at 23. But i am sat next to an external wall on my PC and the wall is freezing, so i guess it is cold out tonight. The other problem is the stat is placed in the hallway which has several radiators near it, i guess i should turn the ones down near it as the lounge is cold but the rest of the house is hot.

I fitted one of these wireless things where you put in time and temperature. I have it set at 21c in the morning, 19c during the day, 21c in the evening, 16c overnight.

15 degrees.

The aga keeps the kitchen warm & we normally have fires going in the sitting room & study. The chimney runs up through the middle of the house, so the radiant heat keeps ours & our son's bedrooms at a lovely temperature throughout the night.

Stat in the hallway is set to 20, but the rad valve in the lounge is only 2 and the bedroom lower.

Our sytem does allow the bathroom rad to be fully hot when the heatings on though.

If we settle down and keep the lounge/hall door shut it gets proper toasty, even at the lower settings on the rad valve.

Having said that though, I wont be cold, I will turn it up if required.
