This Is England.....

The film that is. Anyone watch it lastnight? This is the first film in ages that has had my full attention for the entire duration! I remember the SkinHead era but dont rememeber any of them being as violent towards foreigners as the film portrays. Still a cracking film & some exellent acting.

Saw this at the cinema when it first came out, and watched it last night too. I was alive in that era, but preschool age. The attitudes of some of the charactors echo on in some people I know that would have been early 20's at that time, however.

Good film, sad ending, great acting, quality soundtrack, cool Rover.

Agree. Very well acted by the little lad and a very real snapshot of that era.

I too thought it was a brilliant film, didn't watch it again last night though.Hard to watch at times,but Shane Meadows always eems to create some excellent stuff.

I enjoyed it so much that I started a thread on it when I first saw it too!

Watched it again last - reminds me of one thing we can still do well in this country (make films that is!)

One thing that really does annoy me though, non of the cinemas in my city (its a smallish city) were showing Medows last film when it was released

The pub in the film actually exists, Its about 3 miles away from my house, its only open on Saturday nights and from what I have seen parked outside driving past some very 'interesting characters' frequent the place....

Fantastic film, watched it last night and one of the very few that kept my attention for the duration.

One thing I missed though was did the guy die at the end or did they save him intime..?
