Radiators won't work???

Need some help it's making me really cold

we have 3 radiators up stairs one in each room and one on the landing.

Now for about 3mths now I have woken up every morning with an ICE cold nose and so cold that you can see your breath . Brrrrr!!!!

I have Bled my radiator and the other two but still get NO heat. Now we have an Aga which all the heat rises up to the bedroom and does warm it a little little bit but by no means enough to be nice and warm.

Its driving me mad now because I don't want to die of hypothermia!!

What else can I do to make it work???

Are the valves turned on so that the hot water flows into them?

If they've got thermostatic valves on them that have been turned off the pins may be stuck down.
Take the top of the valve and try and ease the pin back up.

Yes Iv turned them on just nothing.

Where do you live the North pole ?

Sounds like you need to get a heating engineer out not post on here

I don't think its one of those ones it has a 1,2,3,4,5, twisty thing on the other side its got a sticky out pin with a white cap on it the the thing at the top where i bleed it from.

all the other ones work in the house just not the upstairs ones.

If you can adjust the heat from the valve on the side throught the numbers 1-5 it has a pin that goes into the water flow to restrict it. It's not uncommon for these to stick.
You can remove the thermostatic adjuster by pulling the top off carefully to expose the top of the pin. A gentle tweek with some pliers allows the pin to release, thereby removing the restriction in the flow of water.

Is it a combi boiler? If so have you pressurised the system lately? Might be worth a look.

If its a regular system boiler it might be an airlock or other blockage. Either way you'll need a central heating engineer.

Turn off all valves to Rads and then start from the furthest room and bleed the system again you might find you have a airlock in the pipe. Once you get hot water whilst bleeding then work your way back towards the closest Rad whilst leaving other valves open.

Old house? I'd say knackered/worn out boiler/pump. My parent's house gets progressively colder the further up you go, despite well bled radiators.

If it's a newer system you might be able to adjust the balance or whatever it is my plumber mate always goes on about

If so carefully remove the adjustable part to expose the pin underneath. Do this before calling a plumber as they will charge for doing just this.

If that doesn't solve the problem THEN call a plumber/heatin engineer.

If you unscrew the 1,2,3,4,5 thingy it comes off completely. Underneath this you will see a very small metal pin sticking up, this is should be able to move in and out - but is probably stuck - so needs freeing up.

I did it with a few gentle taps with a hammer, once it is free to move in and out, replace 1,2,3,4,5 thingy - and all should be well.

Don't worry, unscrewing 1,2,3,4,5 thingy does not reult in jets of water all over the carpet.

had a similar problem a few weeks ago, turned out we had no water in some of the upstairs rads, so bleed the system and then refil it where needed, had a local plumber out to fix all and check as was due for a service anyway , took him about 30mins to fix it all.. now all very toasty...

All sorts of things could be wrong; it could be the pump or it might be the motorised 3-port valve. Do you have radiators downstairs, do they work?

I had this problem twice in the last two years - turned out to be a knackered diverter valve each time. Heating engineer job - but, might be worth signinig up for the British Gas boiler care programme - it was cheaper to do this than get someone in to just replace the diverter valve.
