So, the long and short is that provided you're paid sufficient money to keep you in the style you wish to become accustomed, anything goes.
If the Met (or any other company/association etc) were truely racist, money shouldn't be part of the deal, the culprits should be brought to justice.
As a policeman, upholder of the law, I ask you to do the honourable thing and forget the money and take it all the way to expose racism within the Met...........................

I can only conclude that he is not offended by racists comments, simply liked the smell of money.

Because the Met don't want it dragged through court would be my guess.The £300,000 may also include his pension lump sum in which case the money from the case is far less.

I dare say he'll get a socking pension on top. Whilst I abhor sexism and racism I wonder how I would behave if I ran a small company - the temptation must be huge to just not employ women or racial minorities from a financial risk standpoint, beacuse a court case or maternity leave can substantially impact the business.
I went into the local news agents last week, to get a luck dip lottery ticket. With only minutes to spare 'til the cut-off time the proprietor chose to serve a couple of his 'cousins' who had entered the shop after me! This prevented me from getting my luck dip as the 19.30hrs cut off had now been reached!
Early indications are that had I been served I would have won!!
I am considering action against Camelot in the sum of £7.2m; hopefully they won't want the scandal dragged through the courts.

I do and you're correct with your assumtion - this is why I feel strongly about the subject.The Met either are or are not racist.....

The decision to make an out of court settlement will have been made by a lawyer.It's all a game, played with tax payers money sadly.
Mind you his pension commutation is probably a similar sum.

Of course they were racist and the knew it and the met are probably very happy to have settled rather than this whole saga dragged through the courts.Still doesn't dismiss the fact he is more interested in money than 'principles'.
Apparently there are quite a few discrimination cases coming up against the Met. Either all of the claimants are trying it on, or there is something fishy going on in the Met. Maybe things haven't really moved on since the Macpherson report?

Assistant Commissioner? I don't know much about Police hierarchy but I assume that it is a fairly high position, not bad for someone who was sidelined and discriminated against.
What about all the Police officers that never get that far? Play the race card or grow a spine and deal with it........

Are you suggesting people should put up with racism? In a force that is considered fairly racist to the public?They should be grassing people up left right and centre.
