Christmas Bonus

Do companies generally give these out?

Forgetting the current economic situation - I have yet to work for a company that didnt give us some form of christmas bonus.

Granted, I have generally worked for smaller companies.

Question is, who gets a christmas bonus every year and how much is it? Is it a usual thing to do?

I have done for quite a few years now, although i am not expecting one this year. Normally worked out to between 15% and 20% of salary.

My Bonus will be employment through 2009.

I may get £50 M&S vouchers for Health and Safety leadership apart from that nothing, in the current market I wouldn't want anything apart from continued employment, as I don't for a bank its not like we would be bailed out by the Gov if it came to it.

10% is about standard IME.

This year apparently it's going to be paid at the end of March, along with salary increase that normally comes in January and backdated. Supposedly to bring us in line with the rest of the group.

My bonus is more work and longer hours for the same money in return for not getting a P45

a fully paid for Christmas party, a day off paid the next day, and finish early on the last day with another fully paid piss up.

My xmas bonus has always been about £500.

We get quarterly bunuses all the time, just annoying the xmas one will be paid at the end of January.

finish early on xmas eve and and annual bonus of £X depending on how well the company have done this includes balls like how many people have been ill or had work related injuries etc.

last year was about £1000 this years will be terrible though.

No Payrise

No Christmas party

I would be happy to retain full employment throughout 2009. That is bonus enough

This year possibly not even that, plus no pay rise in 2009, and scrapping of the Profit bonus, even though we are still making a profit.

A job would be a nice bonus.

Last company was a fully paid Christmas party and bar and a fully paid day at the races during the summer.

We get from 23rd Dec until 6th Jan off and an all expenses paid party... not been in this job at Christmas yet, hence the question, but i would very much doubt a bonus - especially given the industry!

Ours is normally paid on 1st Feb.

I can't see us getting one this year.

But, yes, still being employed is the key bonus now.
