IT people - dont choose "computer consultant" on insurance

as 'computer analyst' or 'computer programmer' = £100 off. No idea why such a diffence in consultant. (confused.com and makes a difference across companies)

Maybe consultant implies moving around a bit and being a lively character (well thats my story and im sticking to it ) and Analyst or Programmer sounds super sensible locked up in darkened rooms for hours on end.

yep - the consultant bit will make them think you can afford a nice car and you'll be driving between sites........even if you don't say you have business insurance (another rip off)

Depends on the company and the current skillset they possess, in smaller companies would be a consultant but normally do a niche role in large globals so always hands on as opposed to just consulting (aka talking and doing presentations....yawn!)

Well i'd like them to try and prove you were more a consultant than an analyst... Saying that maybe i'd best not say that since these days they seem pretty sharp on getting out of paying out.

My biggest shock was when i bought a van for £500 for gigging and tried getting insurance. Best i'd got was about £500 for private use only. I made the mistake of telling a Broker i was a part-time musician and the price then became £2500... so he suggested i keep that bit to myself.

Apparently a motoring journalist is one of the worst in the book..

Dont know about bracket, but on most insurance sites you can amend and re-run quotes as much as you wish so have a play and see how compares to other professions

Bizarrely 'company director' always works out cheaper than 'computer consultant' for me.
