Phone Scam?

Any ideas on this.

Got a call last night after 12pm. I was in bed. Number was 07860 xxxxxx. Didn't recognise the number.

Was some bloke just saying "Hello… Yeh, Hello?... Anyone there?". Sounded middle aged, well spoken.

Went on for a few seconds then the call ended. I was speaking back but nothing. Could have been a recording but not 100%. My instinct say it may of been purely down to the time of the call.

Called back just now. "Hello, you are through to K.I.M Consultants, nobody available, please leave message, blah blah blah.


Is it suspect and have I just been blagged by a premium rip off phone line scam?

I always google numbers that seem suspect. Often someone has reported the number already if its dodgy.

Thanks for the advice. Just run a quick check and nothing shows. Maybe just me being paranoid.

For information, there is no sign of the said consultancy business on google.

The fact they have disguised their number with Xs makes me suspicious!

Might just have been a network error that caused two phones to connect when neither person had dialled - sure I've heard of it before.

An 07860 would have been an O2 number originally (number may have ported to different provider) and is not a premium rate prefix.

I just knew that one day my telecoms knowledge would be useful. I can now die happy and fulfilled.

I think they're hoping that you'll be gullible enough to call them back. It'd be a premium rate number, y'know £10 for 1 second.

Definately, no doubt with a recording playing like you mentioned in the first instance. Just google the number, probably come up with whocallsme.com
