Garage floor covering

Whats best to put on the garage floor ,ceramic tiles , paint or pvc interlock tiles - what have you any recommendations ?

Many threads on this and best answers are old carpet or cheapo floor tiles are better and cheaper then most things designed for use in a garage.

I wouldn't use tiles. If you drop something heavy on them or try using a jack on them they'll break. Painted concrete or old carpet are the options I'd look at, unless you can get hold of some of that fancy clip together flooring you see at race meetings.

They were doing a special on eBay at the time to get rid of surplus stock. Cost about £450 for a double garage.

We bought a house with a garage conversion and are converting it back in the new year as I need to store my Aprilia. Trouble is, the garage conversion makes a very nice cinema/Xbox room as well (its current use). The plan is to get a nice insulated roller door, park my bike in the front part of the garage and still keep the sofa and surround sound in there. The 'priller will be like a big ornament!

There's been a couple of threads where people have done that sort of thing. How cool is that though, got your P&J all safe tucked up next the the xbox. Some bloke put a big glass partitioner so he could see his Dino.

A mate of mine used to keep his fireblade in the lounge. He put ornaments on it, and called it his Honda Fireplace.

I'd have thought carpet would get wet and mouldy and stinky.

What about some vinyl or rubber cushionfloor type stuff. Keep the warmth in a bit, more comfortable on the knees, waterproof, oil and stains can be mopped up.

I went with cheap porcelain tiles. Lots of mortar underneath so no air spaces. I've dropped bits of steel and even a large hammer on them and only ever got a small chip. Ususally put a piece of plywood under the jack if jacking.
Really easy to clean and doesn't catch fire from weld flash. Turned out about 75% the cost of proper epoxy job.

I used similar , bought off a mate who had over ordered , i jacked up my Merc E class and had it on axle stand last weekend and it didnt damage the tiles although a mate and myself gave an offcut a few good smacks with a hammer to see how strong they are when we fitted them and i'm sure they will stand up to the use i will give them

I used to paint it before but it never lasts for long , hot tyres would stick to the paint and just pull it off leaving 4 bald patches

No pictures with a diablo in the garage though
