i Robot Roomba !!!!!

My daughter is wanting one of these vacuum's for her flat for Xmas. Being a sceptic I suspect they are rubbish, but confess they do look fun. Has anyone got any first hand experience of them?

We've had one for a couple of years. It works very well, apart from not being able to get into the corners properly.

It's great being able to just set it loose in the morning and come home to find the floors cleaned up by the time we get home. The worst bit is working out where the little b*gg*r has hidden when its battery ran down (usually under a sofa or similar object).

The only thing it can't vacuum is the staircase.

They are good, but you have to do regular cleaning of the brushes and bits of maintenenace.
Briliant for under the beds, brilliant for getting pethair up, but need to be used regularly.

560 has a scheduler on it, so you can set it to come on when you are out, returns to base for charging, it works good. But you have to "roomba proof" the rooms befroe you use it, things like wires from table lamps need be well away from floor or roomba of you will return to debris!

530 is without scheduler, identical and available in Costco for about £150 now. Real bargain!

Had limited experience of one in my sister in law's place, works really well on flat floors but if you have hardwood floors or specifically the sanded floor boards made popular by TV property shows...

Forget it, the roomba will get stuck in any deep gaps and upset it.
