WTF is this? The Government can't afford decent equipment for our squaddies in Afghanistan, but when it comes to bribing Afghans, it's money no object.

Deal. It worked in N Ireland. The men who were blowing things up are now running the place and jumping through hoops for the Government. Probably a lot cheaper for the British Government to pay them a wage and take the off the dole than to pay for everything to be rebuilt time and again.
