Bleedin' middle-age
Discussion
About six months ago I tried on my brother's pair of glasses, after I was complaining I couldn't see the footie results on a TV in a pub we were having dinner in. I put them on and the whole world came into focus. I went into an opticians a few days later and the chap said I shouldn't be driving without glasses. Anyhoo, I bought some glasses and now, when I don't wear them, I am utterly inept.
It's pretty damn depressing. Middle-agedness has crept up on me. It bleached my hair while I was sleeping and took away my vision. Then it made me a grumpy old sod. And then it messed with belly - making it go outwards for no particular reason.
And worse. My missus has started booking me in for regular medicals (after she read something about the risks of hitting 40+). I went for one just the other day and the doc gave me the "thumbs up" - in the actual, not figurative, sense (if you follow my prostating ramblings).
And then, to cap it all, you realise that you're now well over half way through your three score year and ten.
Live for the day I'm thinking.
Anyway, I think I'll stop this rambling and pour myself another glass of red wine.

Much is under your control, some not.
Well at least you're helping your heart. Isn't that what they say about red wine? Though I am referring to a glass not a bottle.
My mum denied the need for glasses for a long time, she had always had excellent vision. She succumbed in the end (with some helpful nagging from me) of course it'll never happen to me

You think that's bad, I've had glasses since I was 15!
Was told I should just use them for reading or using the computer but the world was quite lopsided when I took them off that in the end I wore them all the time (one eye has perfectly normal vision, the other is not, hence feeling lopsided, apparantly my brain tries to compensate for the dodgy eye by making the good one work twice as hard).

38 next year.
Eye check a few months ago, fine
Fitter, slimmer than I have been in 15 years.
Still have a full head of hair.
Sucks to be you I guess...?

Worst thing I've found is that the missus looks just like her mother did when I first met her, but without her mothers ability to always look well presented.
