So I am all ready at 11:30 to go to bed, long day of work tomorrow, have to be in a meeting at half 8. So that means leaving here at half seven ish. No problem I thought fine, all was well.

Fast forward two hours, my two house mates come back from the pub, drunk. Now I have no issue with this as I do it all the time, but...

They then proceed to put the stereo on and start playing guitar, bare in mind I live in one of these new build bits of ste, and as soon as someone talks you can hear it. It really pisses me off, as I am not used to sleeping in noise, and I have important work ahead of me. As do they, allegedly, I am 21 and they are both 26. But I seem more bothered by it than them..

What can I do to piss them off, or stop this from happening, I try the usual, STFU, and all that, but it doesn't work they are just live for the weekend types, and don't care.

Its getting to the point where I am thinking of ways to live my life in a quiet environment, unfortunately I cannot afford to live in my own place down here though..

Hit me with ideas.

dressmaking pins through the speaker wires (unless its your stereo)somewhere they wont be seen and through both pos and neg so shorting them out and destroying the final stage of the amp.
After the damage is done, remove pins!

Put a fake noise abatement letter together & post it to them throught the mail addressed to occupant, then confront them with it & explain that if they don't pack it in you will advise the landlord that it's not you & let him deal with them!!!

Use your mobile phone as an alarm and turn off the main power switch to your flat before going to bed.

They sound thick/lazy enough not to know where to look to switch it back on...and if they ask, tell them that there must have been a spike of electricity that tripped it out.

Also place the guitar upside down in the path from the front door to his room so that he puts his foot through it wink

I do like to suggestion of posting a letter of complaint to your address.

E coli virus on thier toast?
Rewire the washing machine so the 40 cycle works at 90, and the 90 works at 40.

Or go pycho with a large knife. Walk into the room holding bread knife and start to foam at the mouth. Pick up stereo and throw it through the window.

Everytime they use the shower, trip the electric.

Going by the 'How often do you shower?' thread, nobody in that houses uses the shower.

I have started morning showering now, its actually pretty good biggrin

Some good ideas there guys, the main power switch to the house is probably going to be the first step. Although the cress seeds is genius.

I am not an old man or anything, but having my sleep ruined for the price I pay for rent is not on, I'll keep you posted as they are going out later and I cba.

get your arse to the garden centre now!! grab a packet of seeds and get sowing! They don't take a great deal of looking after to get a good field of cress lovliness going.

I did this to someone when I was in the forces he had to literally "shave" his carpet with a razor to get them out after just a week and a half

Nope, 21 and I don't take kindly to my nights sleep being ruined at 2.30 am.

Frozen prawns inside the curtain pole ends? Or an equally devious hiding place.... that'll force them out in a week or two.

Seriously though, just excessively loud cheeriness in the morning will help. Loud filling of kettles, dropping of ironing boards, loud news on the TV while you're in another room, bit of off key singing....

It would have come to that last night, I sent the message and thought one of them was going to come up stairs and give it the big one. Fortunately I could overpower both of them with ease biggrin

When they're asleep, get a kitchen knife and stab them both to death.

...and for gods sake man, have a shower afterwards.
