Am I the only one that gets annoyed by people spouting the he’s 'unelected' line?
FFS we don’t have an elected president in this country. We elect a party to lead the country, and they choose a leader who becomes the prime minister. Blair wasn’t elected, Thatcher wasn’t elected, Churchill wasn’t elected.
It was fairly obvious at the last election that Blair wouldn’t serve out the term and Brown would take over with no general election being called. Why do people have such difficulty understanding that this is how it works?

FFS we don’t have an elected president in this country. We elect a party to lead the country, and they choose a leader who becomes the prime minister. Blair wasn’t elected, Thatcher wasn’t elected, Churchill wasn’t elected.

Yeah, i think Mugabe did get properly 'elected' at least once.

True, but the generally accepted form in this country is that if the party leader stands down and somebody else takes over, a general election is called 'fairly soon' afterwards so that the new lad has a mandate from the people.FFS we don’t have an elected president in this country. Although the only recent example I can think of is that John Major took over in November 1990 and the next election was April 1992, so that's about 18 months.
